Where to add tranmission fluid - 1988 Ford Econoline

on 99.99999 % of cars it goes in the dipstick tube where you check fluid, yes its small but that's it.

do you have a leak and the fluid level keeps dropping?low fluid will do a lot of your problems

The transmission fluid is checked and added (if necessary) through the transmission dipstick tube

You add fluid in the same pipe the dip stick is in. Remove the dip stick and insert a funnel and add fluid through there. Check it frequently since there is no way to remove fluid easily if you over fill the transmission.

the tank is the bottom of the transmission. add fluid into the dip stick opening with a narrow funnel auto parts stores sells

Take the measuring stick from sleeve, place a funnel into sleeve (two dollars at your favorite auto parts) and add tranny fluid to level. Do not overfill.

get a transmission funnel. it is wide and has a flexible tube. remove your dipstick. unless you have just replaced the filter or transmission add fluid by the pint to a transmission. get the fluid with the car running and in park. you will need to add some. wait for it to settle,. start the car and repaet till full.

If you do not see a dip stick then you will have to look under the car, it will be a 17mm inset nut, have the car running in N when putting the fluid in

There is a rubber plug that is actually the dip stick. You can check out you fluid level but you have to crawl under the truck and remove the plug and there is your dip stick it is only a couple of inches long.

this t-bird has a 5r55s trans. it does not have a dipstick.
it has a "standpipe" type leveling system.
to check fluid level the tranmission has to be within 80-120 degree f.
take the plug out of the center of the fitting located on the bottom of the trans pan. it is a torx 30.
running in park the fluid should drip slower than a coffee pot.
to add you need a npt thread fitting the same as the little plug you removed. and attach a bottle of mercon5 and hose to it. squeeze the bottle to add fluid
then recheck it by letting it drain out to a fast dribble. then install the little plug back in. remember 80-120 degree fluid temp.
