The shutoff should be somwhere in the trunk area. Behind a panel on the left side I think. It will be a little black box and have a button on the top, if you push the button you'll hear a click. Good Luck. If this doesn't answer your question, please email.

Check Inertia sensor. This cuts off power to fuelpump. It has a reset button and is usually behind the front floor kickpanels.

1998 ford explorer won't start. driving down the road and it quit running.

Hello, This problem could be from the Inertia sensor. There is a Reset button either behind a plastic panel in the rear cargo area or under the dash by the kickpanels. The part is suppose to disconnect the fuel pump in case of a crash. A small bump will sometimes trip it.
If you have any Starting fluid, you can test whether this is a fuel source problem. Or listen to the vehicle when you turn on the key, the fuelpump should run briefly. If you do not hear anything, then the fuelpump may be shut off.

I have a 2004 freestar that wont start.changed fuel pump still wont start.pump wont run!

Hello, If you have not checked your Inertia switch it shuts off the fuelpump and may need to be Reset. It should be in the RH side of the jack compartment. You just push and hold a button on the switch and then the fuelpump should work.

The Inertia switch is a safety device and can trigger when a door or hatch is closed hard enough to simulate a crash. You also can have a Relay in the Powerbox which may be labeled. Try the Inertia switch first and if it does not help, then change the Fuelpump Relay.

Gmc yukon turns but will not start dont hear the fuel pump on in the fuel tank

With ignition key on run, use test light to verify you have positive & ground to fuelpump. No power (positive) check fuelpump fuse. No ground check fuelpump relay. If both positive & ground fuelpump needs to be replaced.

Truck acts like it wants to start but it won't turn over, changed fuel filter. now i need to find out where and what to check out next. thanks in advance:)

The Inertia safety switch may have tripped on you. Depending on which Model of Ford you have, the Inertia switch is in different places. The most common place is at the top of the Drivers kick panel or the Passengers kick panel. Sometimes a hole is provided to allow a finger to pass through to press a button on top of the switch. On other Models, the kick panel must be removed. Yet a third place would be behind the glovebox around the computer.

When you turn the Key to Run, a short burst of the fuelpump will pressurize the system and then it waits until the engine starts, then continues running. You should hear the fuelpump run. When the button on the Inertia switch is pressed it makes a circuit.

Your truck should also have a Relay for the fuelpump and the Ignition. If the Inertia switch reset does not help, one of the Relays may be bad. Check whether you have spark at the plugs and go from there. If you have spark, you may not have fuel and need a fuelpump Relay.

I hope my solution is helpful to you.

The car started last night but not today. it's not getting any fuel. the car will turn over but will not start

You should hear the fuelpump run for 1 or 2 seconds when you first turn the key to the Run position. If the fuelpump does not make any noise you should check the Inertia sensor. On some Ford products it is in the drivers side of the truck, behind the carpeting. On other Fords it is behind the front kickpanels.

There is a button to push to reset it. Sometimes it will trigger with a door slam or trunk slam. It is a safety switch made to work when it senses an impact. If the fuelpump works after you push the reset button you are all set.

Why wont my car start after replacing the fuel pump

Do you hear the fuelpump running? Check the Inertia switch under the right front passengers kickpanel. There is a button to press and it will reset.

This is a safety switch for impacts and when the fuelpump was disconnected, it can sometimes trip.

Also, when you diagnosed a bad fuelpump, there are Relays and fuses which supply the power. Your original problem could have been a bad relay.

I have replaced the fuel pump amongst a lot of other things. I can spray gas or starting fluid in the throtal body and it will run rough untill the fumes ware out. Its a 1995 ford explorer 4x4 xlt

If you hear the fuelpump operate the first 1 or 2 seconds when the key is turned to RUN position, the fuelpump is working. If you do not hear the fuelpump run, check the Inertia switch which should be in the side panel of the rear cargo area. If you have an owners manual check for the Inertia switch location.

To reset the Inertia switch, hold the button on it for 2-3 seconds. You should now hear the pump run. You may also have a fuelpump relay under the hood in one of the Powerboxes. The Powerbox may have a fusible link from the Battery. When the fusible link is OK and the Pump Relay is OK, there is a fuse in the Fuse panel. Then finally the Ignition switch will trip the Pump relay. As power flows through the wire to the fuelpump the Inertia switch can break the power connection.

So you have 5 powerpoints before the fuelpump will work. Fusible link, Pump Relay, Fuse Panel, Ignition Switch, and Inertia switch. These must all work before the fuelpump can run.

Truck has 6v to fuelpump I need 12v is it a relay, which one

go to "AutoZone.com" and search through that web site. It's got alot of do-it-yourself stuff, but you have to look around for it. Be sure to look for some of the areas at the bottom of the pages once you put in your vehicle info.

Good Luck
