Question about 2000 Chevrolet Astro
In an earlier post I described this problem, which appeared to be related to the MAF sensor. The problem recurred very shortly after cleaning the MAF. I have since replaced the air filter and cleaned the intake ducts, and substituted the MAF sensor, in case the fellow selling it had contaminated things in an attempt to make the underhood area look newer by spraying an oily substance on it. I also replaced the EGR valve because the position sensing circuit was faulty. It still triggers a P0300 code and has, on occasion, shown a camshaft position error. It seems that error only appears at high rpm and I found there is about 1/8" vertical play in the distributor shaft. Under all circumstances, all three O2 sensors generate wildly varying voltages from less than .1 v to more than .9 v. Fuel consumption is about 50% more than my 1994 2WD Safari.
Check the cap and rotor, they go bad every 20,000 to 25,000 miles
