Hello. If the engine turns over the starter is most likely all right. The next part to consider is the fuel pump. Get a can of starter fluid and send three squirts into the air intake [remove the air filter cover to do this]. If it starts on the starter fluid, it may just take off and be ok. If it starts on the starter fluid and then dies again you can be quite sure the fuel pump is the culprit. Regards, Joe

HELP with my problem to my Question and added details

A good hot battery shoulde do it. Have you had any problems with the security system? That's all that should keep it from starting now. Have you put a socket on the crank bolt to make sure the engine is not seized and turns freely?
Good luck.

first of all. check voltage at battery with engine off. it should be at least 12.6 volts or better, less then 12 volts battery is bad. when running if alternator is ok. it should read at least 14.1 to 14.7 with accesories off. if less than 14 volts alternator is bad. make sure battery posts and cable clamps are clean and tight. also check the cable to starter for corrosion. if all is ok, then the starter or solinoid is bad. check fuses first !

My 99 chevy lumina wont we thought it was the starter and we replaced it, the car wont start or turn over but by jumpstarting the starter it will turn on but wont stay on. i just bought it a week ago so i...

First get a new battery or at least charge the one in the car, and make sure that the connections are tight and shiny and clean when removed.

The problem with the engine not running could be because the battery is shorting out the alternator or drawing down the voltage so low that the computer can't run the car.

I would charge the battery for a few days and then remove it and take it to your local auto battery parts store or Walmart or Sears and have them check the battery for you (bad or good).

Will not start, new battery 3 months ago. think

it could be starter or altinator
try another battery if it starts with that its your altinator
if it was your starter it would make a clicking or whiring noise when you try to start it.

I think your right about the starter being bad.
When you turn the key, it will draw all the energy that it can from the battery. That's why your dash-lights go out.
When you take it in to be replaced, have them test out the old and the new starter.
I've gotten a defective starter before that was brand new.

Wont start again after driving

have somene try to start the car while you listen under the hood for the weird sound of something spinning it kinda sound like something griding. sometimes it occurs 2 to 3 seconds after turning the key. if you hear that sound then it's your starter i just had the same problem about a day ago . it's easy to fix i took mine out and had it rebuilt for 55 bucks reinstaled it and it started right up. here's a that will guide you through the repairing process.. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2076435
