Question about 1999 GMC Jimmy

1 Answer

Sometimes when I start my Jimmy it'll have almost like a growling sound come from under the car. It doesn't last long and it doesn't happen all the time. Any ideas?

Check the transmission fluid. Maybe you need to add some oil.

this is just a guess. check the carrier bearing by jacking up rear at the rear-end and have an assistant get in start and shift into gear have foot at ready while you peak under you should get a sense of direction of where the noise is coming from.
if you need help with something else just reply back.

1996 Buick Park Avenue: Growling sound coming

The growling sound is the heater/ air conditioning motor. It looks like you have to pull the dash board to replace. Go to a junk yard and practice.

2008 Jeep Liberty Starter Issue

cant figure out your post at all !
"When my car will not start it only growls & never roars/never turns over."
it either cranks robustly nor not
then and only the can it start, run
cranks
starts
runs
or maybe stalls
the dealer can fix it , if you demo it and it works.
its not broken then.
if it cranks correctly every time ,say so
that is a failed engine start.
if engine stalls, say so.
if rpm on the engine is real low, too low, say so.

the word turns over means nothing, Im sorry
1/2 say, it means cranking
other 1/2 means its running,
the order is
cranks, starts, runs , and keeps running or stalls.
btw if it stalls, its needs a tuneup'
get one in last decade, (sparks filters)
my guess growls is starter sounds
so if it starter works try cranking with throttle wide open
this is super secret unflood mod. it cuts fuel and clears flooding.
Good engines that fail to start are
bad spark plugs
flooding
starving for fuel.
we discount them 1 by one until. bingo

Where is my spare tire in gmc jimmy slt 1999

Under the back of the vehicle. If it is not there than one ofe two things happened. The wire that holds the spare tire in place broke and the tire fell out from under the vehicle. There ws not one there when you purchased the vehicle. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using FixYa.com!

Transmission makes growling noise when i take it our of gear

I'm guessing it's a standard shift. If it is a standard I would start with checking the fluid level in the clutch slave cylinder. Next I'd inspect the linkage, lastly and hopefully it's not this, but the throwout bearing on the clutch.Hope this helps!Jimmy

Engine turns over but wont start. 1997 gmc jimmy

Fuel Pump or starter. Since you say it's turning over but won't start I'd say it's your fuel pump. You'll probably have to drop your gas tank to fix this problem as your fuel pump is in the tank. You might be able to just loosen the straps and lower your tank a little to access it without removing the whole tank. Check around to local junk yards for this part and you'll probably find it for half the price as new. Make sure you can get your money back if the used pump doesn't work before you pay for it though. Don't forget to run fuel system cleaner (2 bottles to a full tank) once a month.

Jimmy wont start sometimes

Do you have the 4.3L engine with spider fuel system? That system is noted for problems. Key on engine off, fuel pressure, 60--66 psi, use a fuel pressure gage. It needs that pressure to start, after it starts, it will run with less pressure.
There could be other issues? Engine cranking, you have spark at the plugs and fuel injector pulse?
