I have a 1999 kia sportage my driver door is closed an it isn't locked but it will not open for the outside handle or the inside handle what do i do to get it to open can't take panel off

If it's not locked but the handles aren't responding (they feel like they aren't really pulling on anything, no resistance) and the interior lights don't turn on when you pull the handles, you may have no choice but to get into that door panel. It's possible the door opening mechanism attached to the handles has broken, and should be looked at.

Passengers door won't open

Are both of the door handles broken and not moving the lock rods enough to trip the lock mechanism? Do you feel any resistance when operating the handles? If there isn't suffcient clearance between the door and passenger seat to pop the panel clips out of the holes they are seated in then you may have to break the panel to remove it. This would need to be a last resort method to access the door lock mechanism to open the door, but sometimes it is the only way.

The driver's door on my wife's 2007 530xi was replaced and now the outside door handle sticks a bit when it is released after opening the door - it sticks about half way down - and then it pops down into...

no the door handle is fixed from the inside ,and by the sound of it the handle is catching somewhere and this should have been noticed by the person rebuilding the door ,take it back and ask nicely as most garages will bend over backwards to rectify a fault like this as its their fault and give you another car whilst they do for free

Both door locks do not work properly. I can only open the drivers side door from the inside. And the passengers side door will not open at all. This is on a 1999 Ford Explorer Sport.

Do any of the door handles inside or out feel sloppy (when you pull on them does it feel like there is nothing connected to them)?

If so that the levers on the latches are probably rusted up and sticking. Say for example the outside door handle lever that is attached to the door latch is stuck half way in the open position it will not allow the door lock mechanism to lock or unlock. The door will still latch and stay closed because the lever will not be stuck far enough to release the latch mechanism from hold on to the striker.

I have had pretty good luck removing the door latch (the part that actually holds the door closed) and soaking in penetrating lube and working all the levers until they move freely.

As far as the door that doesn't open I suspect it is stuck in the lock position and one of the handle mechanisms is in the partial up position. Again the symptom would be a sloppy door handle. That lever will need to be put back in its normal resting position before the door can be unlocked. This can be done with a slim jim. Once you have the door panel apart on the door that still opens you will be able to see the parts you need to move. You can then use that knowledge to move those parts on the other door that doesn't open.

If you don't have any experience with a lockout kit (i suspect most people do not) that that's the best way I can describe how you can do this yourself.

Cannot open drivers door from the inside on 2001 dakota can open from the outside. The lock works for the outside handle. I have taken off the inside door cover

Either:
1. The Metal Rod connecting the inside door handle to the door mechanism is most likely disconected either at:
a. The inside door handle
or
b. The connection on the door mechanism.
2. The Door Mechanism is not operating correctly.
You should be able to see the door mechanism and the connections. I sometimes use a poskeyt mrror and flashlight to see the mechanism.
A. Check the connections and try moving the metal bar back and forth attempting to open the door.
B. If this does not work: then attempt spraying WD40 into the door mechanism and re-attempt.
C If this does not work: then remove the mechanism and check the inside door connection mechanics.

I have a 99 528i, driver side door won't open from inside or out.

to be honest i would need the car in front of me to diagnose correctly but from the sound of it the mechanism inside the door is worn, the lever that springs open the jaws has worn to the extent that it will not push the two contacts inside the lock open to allow the door pawl to swivel around releasing the door.Only way is too remove the door trim if you can and operate the mechanism with a big screwdriver to open the door then renew the mechanism
