I would make sure engine oil is change AT LEAST every 3,000 miles with filter. Check engine oil level, or you may drop a rod. It should not sound like a diesel.

Hi I have a 2007 Rangerover sport Diesal and when it's cold it starts rubs fr 30 seconds and dies then starts up again and drives on... Only code in the system was oil pressure sensor..??

correct it will shut the engine down ,change oil every 5000miles and a oil filter every third oil change to prevent this .if the oil is thick and gungy then it will lose a bit of pressure hitting the switch because the pick up pipe in the bottom of the sump is blocked up causing a drop in oil pressure and this will shut off the engine.Use cheap petrol/diesel engine oil not that expensive stuff with so called long life as you just get a build up of clag inside the engine which blocks the oilways and destroys the engine ,change it now a 10/40 is all you need never mind the handbook with 0/30 use a thicker oil and change it regular ,us old codger fleet fitters know all the tricks just ignore these dealer technicians as they like to call themselves as the majority are little more than semi skilled oil changers.Wouldnt last a morning in a proper fleet garage with all the new bits they want to change all the time because they do not have the confidence to know whats serviceable or not .

How to troubleshoot a high pitched whine in the right fron side of my Nissan Maxima 2004

Could be one of the belts slipping or worn out. Might even be the water pump bearing. Does the whine increase/decrease as you rev? Whine louder if you suddenly accelerate?

Possible lifter knock, been very cold here in midwest. runs fine in cold weather. warming up and i get a knock from engine. removed oil cap and does not really get louder ?? does go away and comes bac

Your hearing lifter noise common in most cars in cold weather I have a 2001 sc1 same engine as yours here's how to get rid of that ticking sound go buy a quart of Lucas synthetic motor treatment change your oil and leave it 1 quart low add the Lucas synthetic oil stabilizer within 1 week you will not hear the noise agian reason your hearing the noise is there's no oil at the top of the engine on a cold start oil when cold is thicker hints why your noise in your engine what Lucas does is eliminate the dry start by the way my engine has 288,000 and does not use a drop of oil after you use this product you should use it every oil change you will see your car will thank you regards Chris

Renault scenic 2004 starting and no power issue

The screech noise is most often a slipping engine drive belt so you might want to check the belt condition and for tightness there.

Unfortunately you have one of the most temperamental brands of cars on the planet there, so you may have to be patient with it at times.

You will best be served by plugging in a diagnostic computer and reading any engine fault codes.
Check the condition of the air filter, spark plugs, spark plug high tension leads and fuel filter.
Check the engine oil level. If this is low it can cause engine clatter or tapping noises (caused by engine lash adjusters)

Unfortunately there are so many issues with Renaults in general that I dare not guess at any particular other common faults, as there could literally be anything or everything wrong with it. I'm sorry to sound so negative.

Good luck.

What does a loud clicking noise indicate that seems to quiet as the engine warms when cold starting a fuel injected dodge pickup indicate

The oil may be to thick or a partially blocked pick up (check the sump for a big dent) Lack of oil changes will also cause it as the oil starts turning to sludge & partially blocking things. As the oil warms it gets thinner allowing it to pass around the motor easier. I DON'T recomend the oil flushes. The motor may have to be partially disasembled eg: sump off to clean pickup or tappet cover off to replace lifters etc... Start by changeing the oil & filter with the recomended grade.

Rattling/clinging when car is cold. Stops soon after.

not the water pump as the noise will remain constant hot or cold
you leave very important details like make . model , year and engine type petrol or diesel so answering becomes a hit and miss affair
if the engine has a timing chain it indicates that the hydraulic adjuster is loose until oil pressure is built up which equates to a badly worn chain
next if an incorrect oil filter was used , the oil will drain back over night and , chains, rockers, hydraulic lifters will all rattle until pressure is built up
incorrect oil viscosity will drain down quickly and will take time to build up pressure as well
you may have to find an accredited service shop and leave it there over night so that the diagnosis can be made in the same conditions for them as for you and then get a quote

2004 ford excursion 6.0 was slow at starting unless plugged in, now won't start at all need to know exactley where the glow plug relay is located

im assuming this is the diesal 6.0, and your using the heated plug for over night. in this case check the battery, starter, and altinator. sounds like the oil is warm and starts easily, and oil is cold and has hard time turning the engine over due to the cold (thicker) oil. or the starter just may not be getting the full amount of amps it needs to turn it over, I would start there and if this works, then try a thinner oil in the cold weather, then thicker for summer.
