New distribitor no start 95 honda civic

If you have that steady no starting sound-- engine is cranking but it won't start-- with this car , it is usually one of two things. It is your main relay 50% of the time, your distributor 45% of the time or your ECU the other 5%. You can do an easy test for your spark. If you get spark I would take a leap of logic and go get a Main Relay at the Junk yard for 25 bucks. They plug in right above your left knee in the drivers seat-- when you are sitting. Just behind the fuse box. You will get upside down and unplug it and swap it out. If you are not getting spark at your spark plug when you crank-- and you have already gotten a distributor you may need an ECU. Hondas Only will work with you to get it figured out. If you talk to them they will sell you the relay, if it doesn't work they will swap it out and you up pay for the distributor or ECU. That fixes the problem with those cars MOST of the time. Occasionally, it is the ECU or a combination of two of those-- but SELDOM more than one. I drive one of these cars and always have a backup main relay in the glove box. Real common, easy to fix problem with these cars. They will swap the Distributor out for an ECU as well. IF THEY HAVE IT. Pull your carpet back on the passenger floor, by the door, where your right foot sits as a passenger, and read and write down the top row of numbers and letters above the bar code sticker. If they don't have the ECU to trade you they may only issue a store credit-- No cash refunds. But they will help you sort it-- I promise. Ask for Meena. Search Results Also, knowing the DX, LX, EX or SI on these is helpful, as some of the other models are rarer, like VX or CX. If you have that info handy it helps. Hello, you can try resetting the ECU. Disconnect the battery, or remove fuse #6 from the fuse box under the hood. Wait a minute before you re-install (or reconnect) it.

Not the fuel filter, this is an emissions problem. Sounds like it is in Limp Mode. You need to have the ECU scanned for trouble codes. Is this vehicle not still under warranty for the emissions system? Call your Dodge dealer and find out.

Starting and running problem

Breaking up like you described can be related to a condition where the distributor drive gear is wearing out.
Had you checked it for rotor tip travel (about 5mm of loose travel is the max) or had the distributor indexed? The indexing procedure appears to be similar to an ignition timing adjustment but isn't the same.
Chrysler TSB 18-08-93 Rev A describes a condition often seen on the 1992-1993 3.9 engine. The distributor drive gear wears out prematurely and then wallows out the support bushing in the engine block. Your oil pump is driven by the same gear through the distributor shaft, so cold engine operation often is worse from the higher viscosity of the oil and the resulting load it places on the worn parts.
The distributor index slips to the retarded zone (trails what it should be) just from the gear wear. Adding in the worn bushing and chain stretch can put the distributor in a position where ignition cross-firing can occur and the switch plate (cam sensor) within the distributor can drop out-of-sync with the crank sensor.
If you haven't done so, check this out for me. Remove the distributor cap and twist the rotor clockwise and counter-clockwise. The total tip travel should not exceed 5mm, which is just about 1/8". Even if it exceeds this, an adjustment/ indexing of the distributor will get it running right again if only for a short while.
