SOURCE: upper and lower ball joints

Your better off have it done bt a tech because you need a press to press them out and in. Also you will have a warranty witk the work. You want to be safe messing with your steering and suspension. I hope this helps.

SOURCE: Ball Joints

I highly recommend that you have a press available, they dont screw in unfortunatly.
To change uper ball joints; Remove tire Pull codder pin and remve nut Tap ball joint out of wheel/ brake assembly Remove upper control arm compleatly Use Press to push old ball joint out of controll arm.
A torch may be nessisary to heat controll arm. Press new ball joint all the way into controll arm Reinstall every thing Get a professional front end alignment.

Good lcuk and hope this helps.

SOURCE: Upper and lower ball joint replacement

to remove the axles, remove brake caliper and disc, remove hub assembly, the center hub/axle nut and...(there are i think 3-4 bolts on the back side of the spindle to remove the hub), you may have to force the hub off the spindle with a hammer or air hammer... once the hub is out the axle should slide out of the front differential allowing access to the ball joint nuts for removal...

I am wondering the labor hours by the book to replace both upper U-joints, Both outer tie rods and both lower ball joints on a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500.

try going google and typing in-- labor hours for dodge ram 2002 ---
remember that you have to add up all the hours for each job
for example remove and replace a ball joint may be .3 hours but to get to the ball joints there will be
remove and refit wheel, .1 hrs
remove calliper .5 hours etc
so the remove and replace the ball joint total will add up to 1 hour
if you get a pdf version down load you will see what I mean

remove the axle nut and pull the axle off of the hub. Now you should have enough room to get the ball joint out.

How do i get the hub off the balljoints after the hub is already loose on a 97' dodge ram 1500 4wd?

I would purchase a ball joint/tie rod end pickle fork. Which is a long steel tool for a tapered fork on the end. Put the tool between the hub and control arm where ball joint is. As you hit the tool, the taper of tool wegde between the two and seperate them.

How do i change the upper and lower ball joints in a 1997 dodge ram 1500 witha v8 magnom

This is a nice big job that you have to be really careful and safe, Springs contain tremendous amounts of stored energy , you have to basically rent a spring compressor and once the spring is compressed the ball joints from the factory are usually riveted on the "A" arm , you must drill these out and the new ones will use bolts instead of rivets.
