Question about 2004 Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class

1 Answer

Have had constant power loss for 3 months .Dealer cannot find the fault. First the engine management light comes on and car goes into limp mode then after switching car off and on again car is fine. Then when going up hill or overtaking car sometimes cuts out totally and engine is completely dead. Dealer said it was wiring on common rail but did not work . Seems to happen only when car is hot or got up to a speed of 130 km plus. Won't happen if just driving around town.

If the car was pluged in and no codes it will be trail and error it must be fuel if seals go on fuel lines your would not tell or find problem it could be sucking air change o ring seals in fuel lines and check fuel pressure switch o ring seal the more power the more air will **** in system

I have a 93 Lexus ls 400 and it drives fine for awhile then out of the ordinary the check engine light pops on and the car all of a sudden losses power and won't acelerate any suggestions?

When the engine management system (EMS) detects a fault the car goes into "Limp Mode". This allows the car to be driven, but without any performance so you are not stuck at the roadside. EMS problems sometimes come up for no apparent reason, doesn't always mean there is an actual fault and it may just be a dodgy sensor. Unfortunately, you will have to get it checked out in this case because the car is virtually undriveable as it is.

Engine management light reset

The car is trying to tell you something - limp mode is there to protect the engine if a serious problem is detected. Stop driving it and get someone out to scan the codes and diagnose this.

When I accelerate hard to pass my check engine light comes on and the vehicle goes into limp home mode.

Get the vehicle looked at by a garage. The reason it goes into limp home mode is to protect the engine from further damage. The reason the check engine light comes on is because the engine needs checking with some urgency.

engine manage lights and limp mode are activated from the engine AND the transmission faults
may be the mechanic is looking in the wrong area for the fault as it could be a TCM or wiring problem in the transmission
discuss it with MB headquarters technicians as the local shop may not have the experience to fix problems

Mondeo diesal 2002, glow plug light

Hi

The glow plug coming on on the Diesel Mondeo is an engine management fault indicator. The car goes into "limp mode" when this happens or in other words safety mode is triggered. This explains your loss of power.

To find the cause of this light coming on - the car will have to go on an OBD scanner at a service shop which will read the codes stored in the cars computer and give you an answer as to what is causing the fault to show.

Hope this helps - please remember to rate my answer as ratings are important to me as an expert on the site. Thank You.

Code 24 is a vehicle speed signal sensor fault, the sensor most likely does not provide a useable signal until about 25 MPH, when the computer doesn't see any signal after that speed it turns on the light. Make sense?
