Question about 1996 Audi A4
How do you know there is no spark. DO NOT do it the old fashioned way of pulling off the plug wires and looking for a spark, This was common when the ignition system has a only 32k for firing voltage, Now a day this can be over 100K and can kill you.
Check your timing belt a Probable cause is the top half of the engine is not moving that will cause a lack of distributor signal and stop the fuel pump from running.
Seek professional help in further trouble shooting this car.
Hope this tip helps.

First check teh Battery.. If OK
Then check the ignation coil .... this will be the main cause of no spark.
