Misfire is caused by spark plugs, coil packs (if you have them), possibly wiring issues.
Don't you have long, long warranty on that car?

I have an 01 VW Passat with a 1.8 turbo engine. Above the engine cosmetic plate is this three way hose. Its pretty much gone. What is it ? Does it have a part number? I can't make one out :( don't want to...

looks like the main intake hose. i replaced mine due to dry rot and few months back and got one off rockauto.com. they will have good prices and should be able to match it up with a picture pretty easy. no need for a part number if thats actually what it is. good luck!

Check engine light & advance trac light on since Feb 2009

No recalls on it. Anyone who has owed a LS will have/will experience this problem. It's gotta be cleared. It should cost you around 70-100.00 dollars. For the gas smell, I would say it's the start of you're coils failing on you. Good luck.

I took my 2004 Toyota Sequioa in for oil change and check up with a dealer for 70000 miles. 2 days later my engine light and VSC lights came on. This happened once before when I had 60000miles service....

Take to aftermarket autoparts, ie Checker, Shucks, etc. They will plug into their computer and give you codes needed to fix. Usually for no cost. Good Luck
