Question about 2000 Ford Contour
This may be a theft deterrent system issue. Is the ignition key you are using original? If not, try the original. If it is, there may a malfunction in the ECM. Some vehicles will start with non-dealer keys, but will shut off automatically if the computer fails to read the chip in the key within a certain time. Of course it could also be a problem with the ECM overheating or a faulty fuel pump relay.
