Question about 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser

My 2006 pt cruiser was runing at idle an all of a sudden the temp guage went into the red i checked the antifreeze it was fine and the coolent bottle was fine the air condition was just fixed and also the fan in august by pep boys

Sounds like it is a temp sensor. should be 2 one for the fans and one for the gauge inside the car. it should be the one by the thermostat housing for the gauge.

It Sounds Like All Did Go Back to Normal!
You Have To Check If You Have a Water Leak And Repair It Or It Could Be The Thermostat Needs Replacing.
Tip Always Add Water With Engine At Idle When Hot,
And Be Very Careful Not To Get Burnt By Steam.Let Engine Cool First. Follow Safety Instructions Normally On Label Near The Radiator

I see that there is a very common problem with the radiator becomming clogged / rusting out on the inside. Take a look at this discussion regarding the problem:

2 tests
1-- compression test for gasket and cracks
2--- coolant system pressure test to check for split tanks , welsh plugs , leaking through corrosion holes behind pump impeller

Have a 2006 PT Crusier that rough idle, and check engine light is on with code for #3 cylinder misfire. Replaced spark plugs and wires. Still have engine light on for #3 cylinder misfire. Seems to be fine...


I would start by having your codes cleared. If a fouled plug was the culprit, the pcm may not have reconized that it was fixed.

Try running a bottle of sea foam through it. You could have a sticking fuel injector.

As a last resort , have a compression test done. A crack in the clyinder head could also cause this issue.

As long as its not FLASHING it should be ok to drive, get it checked out ASAP though.
