Question about 2000 Dodge Stratus
Hi, You should have a coolant overflow tank/bottle located under the hood and should have a mark indicating "Low" and "Full" on the side of the tank, and also read "Coolant only" on the cap. This is the first area that you should check. If your coolant level light goes on, you are exceeding the normal operating temp for the engine. This is not good. The next thing you can do is add coolant to the radiator, BUT THIS MUST BE DONE WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD....REAL COLD! The cooloing system on a vehicle is pressurized when warm or hot and can cause severe burns and injury if the cap is removed when these conditions exsist. If you find that the coolant system is full and the light still comes on, further investigation will be required to the cause and may not be something you would want to tackle, therefor a repair shop will need to elvauate this problem.
