Question about 1997 Plymouth Voyager

I have a 1997 Plymouth Voyager with the 3.3L engine and the 3 spd w/overdrive automatic transmission. Until yesterday the trans gave no signs of possible repair needed. Now the van will not want to go into gear. Most commonly at a complete stop but also at variable speeds. Does not show this problem at start, only after tranny warms up- also makes a ''whining'' sound that matches engine RPM. The only code produced is PO755 - shift solenoid B malfunction. Q; Is my trans requiring a rebuild or elec. part replacement?

It is possible to be a minor fix. But you may want to get on it asap to avoid being a major fix. Talk to the Commercial parts pro at your nearby auto parts store, for a shop that he ( cough,cough, they are supposed to be impatial) recommends/knows or Would take his car to.

I have 2000 Chrysler Voyager 3.0 automatic what size transmission do I have


I would ask a local private trans repair shop, where their
wholesalers is & go there.
They sell to the public & only deal in trans parts.

There are dozens of professional trans parts venders ,that
sell over the phone or internet.

Deal with the parts pros,then you get it right.

Where is the over drive transfer unit located on a 1997 plymoth grand voyager?


The overdrive is an internal component of the trans axle. This is not a bolt on assembly, and if you are having od trouble, you must seek out a qualified trans technician. If however, you have an all wheel drive version of this vehicle, and are looking for the transfer case, it's located just aft of the engine, about in the middle of the vehicle. this is replaceable by a duyer but not repairable by other than a qualified tech.

My 2000 Voyager has been jerking or jumping while driving. Sometimes it does it right after I turn it on & shift to drive. It just hestitates a little bit. Then we realized it does it occasionally...


Sounds like the transmission. Possibly the torque converter. If the car has automatic over drive, at 45 MPH is about when is activates.

CHeck engine light on?? If so take it to your mechanic or your auto parts superstore and have then read/scan the codes.

On Your 3.3l engine,it is paired with a 4speed Automatic Transmission.Hope that helps

1998 Plymouth Voyager does not shift to 3rd gear when driving,3.3


It's in limp home mode. You'll have to check wire connections and electronic controls. If it has a vacuum modulator you can remove it and look for trans fluid on the vacuum hose side (meaning ruptured diaphram). Double check the parts you replaced as well, especially if they were used parts. My dad went through three speed sensors in one year on his Caravan. You should drop the pan after checking other components. It could be a bad relay, shorted module or wire. The three speed transmissions are much more reliable than the four speed overdrive transmissions but with age and miles things can go wrong and parts will wear out.
