This might help you to better understand the EVAP system and help diagnosing the code that was set. Basically there is a leak and you need to find it. Could be very hard to find without a smoke machine. I would take it into a shop to have it tested with a smoke machine and go from there. Some people might say to just replace the gas cap, but if that's not what it is, there is $20-30 wasted, when it could have been put towards an actual diagnoses that will actually help you to fix the problem DTC P0455 System Description
The control module tests the evaporative emission (EVAP) system for a large leak. The control module monitors the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor signal to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. When the conditions for running are met, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve OPEN and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve CLOSED . This allows engine vacuum to enter the EVAP system. At a calibrated time, or vacuum level, the control module commands the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve closed, sealing the system, and monitors the FTP sensor input in order to determine the EVAP system vacuum level. If the system is unable to achieve the calibrated vacuum level, or the vacuum level decreases too rapidly, this DTC sets. Hope i didn't confuse you.

Please help on how to reset the Engine light for the BMW 320i E90,N46 engine

You will need a scan tool that works on that BMW to clear any warning lights such as a check engine light. Unless you have resolved the problem/ fault that has caused the warning light you are wasting your time clearing it as an unresolved fault that has not been fixed will, once you drive the car again, generate the check engine light again together with a bunch of fault codes that can be read by the scan tool.

My check engine light is on in my 2008 GMC SIERRA 1500 pickup with 5.3 V8 I have 2 fault codes, PO449 & PO455. I tried removing battery cable no help. Can anyone steer me in righ direction. Thanks

First check the tightness of your gas filler cap as this can cause the codes to set. To erase the codes you will need a scan tool or code reader . Check the wiring and connections for the EVAP vent solenoid . Fuel tank pressure sensor may be bad .

My 2005 chevy venture check engine light is blinking and engine is running rough

best is to run the fault codes to find which sensors are reporting faults.
having done that fix the faults and then reset the light using the scan tool

Ssangyong rexton engine check light

Check engine light comes on when computer detects an engine fault code. Light is to let you know that a fault code is stored in the ECM. You will need a diagnostic scan-tool to retreive stored codes. Hope that helps a bit.

What does the code PO455 mean?

PO455 Evap System Gross Leak

The old days left in 1981 some 32 years ago

You really have to smoke test the Evap System to
find hose leaks & use a scan tool to actuate the solenoids
to check for bad ones

Without a system diagram your pretty much lost

WHY DOES THE ENGINE CHECK LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF STAY ON OFF IN A CHRYSLER TOURING 2007

Hi there,

Your vehicle's OBD computer monitors all your vehicle's electrical emission circuits.

Each time you turn your key, the computer considers this 1 x drive cycle.

When a fault (or out of spec) condition occurs, this will register a fault code in the computer's memory. Some circuits will only trigger the Check Engine Light (CEL) after the same fault occurs a few times. Other circuits will trigger the CEL with just one fault detection.

In the same manner, if the fault condition is only intermittent, the computer may consider the condition recitified, if that fault does not occur after several drive cycles (i.e. the CEL will no longer light up).

The only way to have this resolved is to arrange for your local Mercedes dealership (or authorised service agent) to connect their factory SCAN TOOL.....and read your computer's stored fault codes.

These fault codes will quickly identify the suspected circuits (eliminating unnecessary garage labor costs), allowing quick diagnosis & repair.

Note: Mercedes Scan Tools operate on a different communication protocol. Typical scan tools designed for American & Japanese vehicles use a different protocol, therefore, I recommend this be done only by a Mercedes agent (or European service specialist).

The process of scanning for fault codes only takes 15-25mins (depending on the technician's experience), hence should not cost you much to have this procedure performed.

Code 1529keep coming up no drveable problems

If the code you are mentioning is p1529 then it is generated by Transmission control module(TCM) to the trigger the check engine light . You have to check the code of your OBD port by using an scan tool that would give you the exact error codes from which the faulty part can be identified.

Check engine light will be triggered in case of any fault in any part in the car.Even a loose gas cap will trigger the check engine light. So having it scanned with an code reader connected to OBD port will help you to identify the exact fault.

Engine check light keeps flashing

Take the car to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve the codes from the computer. Most part stores will do the scan for free. The check engine light comes on to indicate that the computer has noted a fault in one of the car's systems. Getting the codes will show what faults the computer has noted and what system is affected. Hope this helped and best wishes.
