Question about 1989 Buick Regal

1 Answer

I can be driving my car and suddenly the check

I have a 1989 Buick Regal (63k miles). I can be driving my car and suddenly the check engine light/low coolant comes on and the car comes to a complete stop. There is no jerking or hesitation. I had all sparkplugs and plugs replaced, oil change, fuel pump working properly. What else can I try?

Thank you so much for such a quick response!
Yes, I was told that all my fluid levels are good. If it is a problem with my fuel injector-- could a cleaner work as a temporary fix until I can replace it? If so, which kind should I buy?

Have you actually checked your coolant level? if so and coolant was good, try checking your coolant level sensor and its connections

Not sure that it would be an injector, but just about any name brand fuel cleaner will work. I have good things about seafoam brand though.

I have a 2001 Buick Regal. The light for the odometer is not coming on for a couple of months now and 2 days ago the light for the a/c controls is not working. Yesterday the low coolant light started...

it is probably just a burnt light on the dash for the a/c and the odometer, as for the low coolant light if the car jhas more than 100,000 miles on it you need to get the coolant flushed that is all the light is warning you about.

I have a 1989 Buick Regal with the 3.1 V6 engine. What is the replacement interval for the timing chain? This car has well over 200,000 miles I think on the original chain. I am the second owner and got it...

There is no standard replacement interval for timing chains. There are some signs that will indicate that it is worn out like a rattle from behind the timing cover. If the engine has been taken care of the chain should last the life of the engine.

The only time I have changed them is if the vehicle has higher miles and the timing cover needs to be pulled to fix a problem like an oil leak or coolant leak. Otherwise they are not common repairs.

Buick Regal problem-help!!!!!!!!

Have you done the basic maintenance. Spark plugs, oil change, ect.? As for the fans, if you have a/c one of them should only come on when your a/c is on. The other is regulated by a relay so when your car reaches a certain temp it kicks on.

Low coolant light keeps coming on and its not keeping anti freeze

this is a common complaint, GM/Buick recommends you remove the sensor from the radiator side tank and replace it.

Low Coolant light flashing on 1996 Buick Regal 3.8

The low coolant sensor should be located in the passenger side radiator tank, You need to take it out and clean the sludge off of it for it to work right. Or you can just unplug it and forget about it, the light will go out and it won't cause any problems.
