Question about 2002 Volkswagen Passat
The only way your going to find the problem is with a diagnostic code and data scanner.. If the car is not starting then your going to want to know why.
Even if it started right now this could happen again and next time you could end up stranded far from home
Right now codes should be stored in the computer and if the car starts, in time those codes will erase from memory.
From that point you won't be able to know if the car still has a problem, and if you decide to go far from home, whether or not your going to become stranded.
I know this isn't what you want to hear but cars are made to store just about every possible code for any sensor there is.
Not knowing if your a college kid or a mom doing the kid thing, I have to make my best accessment based on the safety factor.
Car electronics are to senstive these days to guess or take shortcuts on.
