Question about 2002 Volkswagen Passat

1 Answer

My 2002 Passat won't start sunddenly

Some things work and others do not. The windows won't roll down, I cannot lock it with the key or make the alarm on. The inside lights do not work but the lights in the dash do and the stereo works. Tried to jump it but that was not the problem.

its not because of the comfort control module harness getting wet? Because I did leave the windows down accidently last week while it rained and I found out it is located in the passenger foot well. Please let me know if you think this could be a possibility... thanks

Yikes, you have a wiring problem big time, if you really want to do this you have around half a mile worth or wiring the the Passat.

have this checked by a pro, but if you really want to go through this, you will need a volt meter / circuit tester / long cable to ground the switches directly to your battery / common tools and wedges to remove the parts needed and lots and lots of patience.

let me know if you want to proceed, i can walk you through checking the in dash circuit and the doors.

Battery in key died. Put new ones in, alarm is not responding and can't roll down windows, start car or turn on interior lights/ 2000 passat

Hello! On the 2007 Passat you must pry the cover off of the manual key slot... Observe from the bottom there is a slot... Place the key in the slot, at the same time pry from the bottom and the whole cap will come off revealing the keyhole... With a good fob put power to the car but do not start the engine... With a manual key, lock the door...Now press the fob you are trying to train twice... It should take the code...Unlock the door, remove the good fob and test the new fob...

I don't have the door key to my 1997 Nissan Maxima and my remotes are no longer working at all, how can I bypass the alarm going off so I can drive the car? The anti theft system won't allow it to start

after the alarm stops going off... do not touch anything... wait 10 minutes or longer... if you are in the car with the doors closed, and the alarm has run through it's cycle and is no longer sounding, do not touch the locks or open the door you will set off the alarm again each time you do this.... attempt to start the vehicle, it will probably just turn on but wont crank or start. this is the immobilizer. It thinks you are tying to steal the car. Since the 97 does not have a key with a chip in it, it will eventually start. However, only after I waited almost 20 minutes without touching anything except to put the key in the ignition and try to start the car withdrawing the key completely each time. This has only happened to me twice because I just don't lock the car anymore. I keep nothing of value in it ever. Each time I got the car to start after waiting and apparently it will start after some time if you push to roll down the driver side window... Haven't been able to find any other mention of this on the internet, somehow this was the trick to getting the car to start again after my remote quit working, and like you i only have a worn down ignition key. It worked for me with all doors except for the drivers side closed. I just kept trying to insert the key and start it, while rolling the drivers side window up and down. Eventually it started after like 30 minutes and after one press to roll down the drivers side window.

The driver side window on my 2001 Passat won't roll up.

Pop out the switch on the door that has the issue, more than likely switch has gone bad and needs to be replaced. you will need to check it with a meter to see if power is getting to the switch and also to check when switch is activated if power goes through switch

2002 Nissan Altima windows roll down by themselves w/no key in

You need a body control computer, which controls the windows, door locks and other items. The new computer will have to be programed by a good imports shop or Nissan dealer.

Alarm going off without interference.

Mine has recently started doing this. My temporary solution is instead of locking the car with the fob or key, go round to the passenger side of the car and press the door lock button. All doors should be locked and when you close the passenger door that should be locked too. In my experience that is the only way to fool the car into not activating the alarm.
