Question about 2000 Ford Taurus

1 Answer

My 200 ford taurus suddenly stopped moving. It runs but it will not move in gear. I also see transmission fluid is coming out of it. I see it inside the motor compartment as well as on the ground. This happened once before and I thought it was just out of when I put fluid IN traveled perfectly just like it always did...but that fluid quickly ran out or came out somewhere and the car stoppped moving in gear again. Since I see it runs perfectly when there is fluid in there...I need to find out where the possible leak is...did a gasket blow? Since I see it all over the engine it spewing out of the spout where you put it in? Is there some kind of compartment that HOLDS the fluid that may have ruptured or something? I know it runs FINE when I pour fluid in it...but it runs out somewhere very soon and the car will not move in gear again. Surely there's some one who knows about this problem. Can anyone please help me? I've heard several things...that a filter may be clogged and thats why its coming out or being FORCED out......or that some line may have broken. Can some one please help me..I heard this is common iohn the 2000 Ford Tauruses. Thank you

If that fluid splashes on the exhaust or the CAT you will burn that vehicle to the ground. Look on youtube for a video about the breather .

SOURCE: 2000 ford taurus- wont shift into gear

first check drive axels , since you replaced front springs on struts i assume. it is possible that one of the axels popped out. next if thats ok check fluid level in trans with eng OFF should show over full make a srcribe mark on the stick. then START the eng it should go down to full or just below depends if trans is full or a little low . if level does not drop approx.1/2 in or so then have a transmission shop check for bad splines in torque convertor, that is a comon problem in that car, year and milage do not play a roll a large roll in parts failure in trans any more. not like it use-to.

SOURCE: can't find the spout to pour transmission fluid into Ford Taurus

You need a funnel to add trans fluid to the dipstick tube where u check the trans fluid level. Let me know if u need more help, Add fluid w/ engine running, shift car thru all gears to circulate fluid. Don't overfill, it's bad for the trans.

SOURCE: I have a 2000 Ford

there are two transmission cooling lines that go to the radiator. If you have a six cylinder it is possible that one of the lines has a hole that is spraying on to the exhaust. this would account for no leaks on the ground. When you start the car it will start to spray right away. These are metal and rubber hose lines, so if and when you find a leak it can be cut out and replaced with hose and clamps or you can get the original hose and replace all of it. Not hard to o . Let me know. Randy

My 2001 ford taurus will not move at all with car on. Can place in all gear & still will not move a inch. What has happen

with the engine running,in park, open the hood. pull the transmission dipstick, located on passengers side, just below the windsheild.the handle may be red,or yellow.pull the dipstick out and read it.the fluid level should always be in the crosshairs or XXXXXX's it has a full reading, at the top of theXXXXX's but only while the engines running and motors warm. it [the dipstick has a cold reading, but more acurate when read warm, and in PARK. always use FOMOCO transmission fluid when adding transmission fluid to your car. that means ford motor company fluid only.[fomoco] is it leaking fluid at all? do you see red fluid anywhere that you park the car? if so,then you have either a bad front or rear transmission seal. either ones a better thing than a bad transmission ,sounds like you're just low on fluid, but i got to ask where the fluid leaked or where it went? suggest that you check for leaks. you may add fluid to your transmission and it moves, but be alert, look for a leak somewhere.thank you for choosing
