How many miles do you have on the car, usually they want you to have your emission checked at a certain mileage.

2004 Cadillac CTS check engine light is on can't remember the code but it's for a dirty or faulty fuel injector replaced the fuel injectors last night light went off but came back on this morning

Need to know the code ? There are no codes for dirty fuel injectors . Circuit malfunction codes yes ! High or low voltage , open or shorted electrical circuits . Could be a wiring problem or a shorted injector driver inside the PCM - engine computer ! Automotive electronics are the same for Cadillac as for toyota as for dodge etc...

Fuel system electrical short

You will need to check the connector to the fuel tank, this sounds like a poor connection not a short, if it was a short a fuse would blow.

Check engine lite, codes P0151, P0153, P1151, mechanic says incorrect voltage from PCM, replace PCM

CODE PO151 - HO2S - 21 BANK 2 SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT LOW INPUT. CODE PO153- HO2S BANK 2 SENSOR 1 CIRCUIT SLOW RESPONSE. CODE P1151 - LACK OF HO2S - 21 SWITCHING HO2S SIGNAL LOW INPUT. POSSIBLE CAUSES TO YOUR PROBLEM AIR INTAKE SYSTEM LEAKING VACUUM HOSES LEAKING OR DAMAGED.AIR LEAKS LOCATED AFTER THE MAF SENSOR MOUNTING LOCATION OR IN THE PCV SYSTEM. YOU COULD HAVE BASE MECHANICAL FAULT LIKE LOW CYLINDER COMPRESSION , VALVE TIMING OFF.HO2S CIRCUITS WET OR OILY CORRODED OR POOR TERMINAL CONTACT. HO2S SIGNAL CIRCUIT OPEN SHORTED TO GROUND SHORTED TO POWER OR THE SENSOR HAS FAILED. LOW FUEL PRESSURE OR VECHICLE DRIVEN UNTIL IT WAS OUT OF FUEL. BEFORE REPLACING PCM CHECK ALL VACUUM HOSES ON INTAKE MANIFOLD. REPLACE FUEL FILTER. CHECK YOUR SPARK PLUGS. IF SPARK PLUGS OIL COATED PROBLEM IN THE ENGINE ITSELF. YOU HAVE WORN PISTON RINGS, WORN VALVE GUIDES AND WORN VALVE SEALS. IF PCM WAS BAD YOU WOULD HAVE FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAR WOULD RUN POORLY.YOU WILL HAVE FAULT PCM CODE IF PCM FAILED. YOUR PROBLEM IN HO2S SENSORS AND THE ENGINE AIR FUEL MIXTURE.

Check engine light is on. Rough idle and running. smells like gas not being burnt completely. What could be issue?

First take the vehicle to your dealer or Autozone and have the codes printed out, this will provide a potential short cut in diagnosis. In the absence of these codes here is what I would suggest: 1) Check that the coolant levels are topped up and that the coolant sensor (different to the coolant sender) wiring connection is clean and tight. If the coolant is low the sensor cannot easily determine coolant temperature and likewise if the sensor connection is not good the sensor signal will not get through to the engine ECU. Erroneous 'low temperature ' signal from the sensor will lead to the ECU thinking that the engine is in cold start mode and will enrich the fuel injection cycles long after the engine is warm leading to an over rich idle. 2) Check for air leaks in the vacuum lines. Pay attention to the EVAP purge valve, if jammed open this will compromise the metered air flow entering the engine. Any source of un-metered air will cause rough idle. To help in the diagnosis any suspect vacuum line to the inlet manifold can be detached for a short while and the ends blocked off to see if it has any effect. 3) check the fuel pressure regulator (FPR), if the diaphragm in it has got a leak this would increase fuel pressure in the fuel line at idle making it rich and would also cause fuel to be drawn down the vacuum line into the inlet plenum. To check that the FPR is healthy simply disconnect the vacuum line to it while the engine is idling. For about three seconds the engine will immediately increase revs (indicating that the vacuum has been removed from the diaphragm) shortly thereafter the engine will start to run roughly (indicating the effect of the ingress of air via the detached vacuum line). If however there is dribble of fuel or the strong smell of it coming from the detached FPR vacuum line then the FPR needs replacing.

My truck will not crank.. if i pour gas into throttle body it will start. i have fuel pressure and changed fuel filter.

What is your Fuel Pressure? Did you put the fuel filter on with the arrow pointing towards the engine? If so, then check to see if your fuel injectors are working. You will need to get a noid light set from your local parts store and plug them in to each individual fuel injector connector and get someone to turn the engine over while you watch the light. it should blink on and off. If not then you have a short in the wire or possibly a fuse blown. check the fuse compartment ( usually under the dash or under the hood) and find the fuel injector fuse and see if it is blown. if it is then something caused it to blow like a spike in amperage or a short to ground. check for broken wires on the fuel injector connectors and make sure they are securely connected. If it does blink on and off then they could be clogged, but normally if one is clogged or even not functioning, the truck will still start, it will just run rough. So im assuming something is not letting the fuel injectors pulse or your fuel pressure is too low to start an engine.
