Sounds more like you have something that is rubbing on your belt/belts, does it smell of rubber? it could be a tencioner or an auxiliary item, ie alternator, water pump, power stearing pump, aircon pump, but it is definatley not a burnt valve!!

NO. I would say you either have a loose belt or your, A/C or ALT. have a bad bearing.

Knocking Engine

Pull a plug and check to make sure that you put the correct plugs in. If they were the incorrect heat range you can burn off the electrode and it could have got stuck in the valve, causing the knocking sound. Use a long 3/4 extension as a stethoscope to try and locate which side of the engine the sound is comming from. Then do a compression check to find the cylinder with the stuck valve.

Sounds like 1 million crickets are under my hood

I am assuming manual transmission. It sounds to be a clutch issue. The "chirping" noise is probably the throw out bearing. The smell may be clutch slip. It creates a kind of fowl burnt smell. Have it looked at by a mechanic to diagnose.

Heater and aircon not working, loud rattling noise and smoke from vent, now not power to fan

It appears your fan itself burned out. When a field coil of an electrical fan burns out it usually makes a lot of smoke. The noise could be something that fell in there that stopped the fan from turning freely. I can imagine it heated up under the strain and burned out.

When you restarted it was burnt out so hence no noise and no fan.
The smell of the smoke should also be clue. Electrical field coils burning has an awful soury type of smell.

1991 Toyota pick-up while driving began to smell wires burning. When stopped could smell strongly on the passenger side under the hood. Did not see any wires burned, but the gauges on the inside stopped...

Look under the dash on the passenger side and under the hood more closely for burnt wires to the computer. If the computer has burnt wires to the instrument panel, then you found the problem.

Smells like burning oil, oil is running out under car with a small amount of smoke. There is no noise and no warning lights are on. Oil is under the hood on most of the stuff.

Most likely cause is a leak in the valve cover gasket. Under pressue, a good sized leak will spurt and burn off on the manifuld, causing the smell of burning oil you're getting. This also would cause the presence of oil throughout the engine compartment. Best of luck on your problem.

Not starting replaced alt, starter, solenoid, and battery is good

It sounds like the wires from the battery to the starter solinoid are burned out, possibly even more of them to the main fuse box under the hood. You will have to start looking for the burned wires you can already smell and replace them. Starter and Battery area are a good place to start.
