Where is the crankshaft position sensor located on the 2002 Mitsubishi Montero sport xls 3.5 truck.

Hi David, The link below is how to test the crank sensor (1997-2004 3.0l Montero, Hope this helps......CHEERS
The crankshaft position (CKP) sensor is located behind the timing belt... but testing it is done without removing the timing belt or its components. This is due to the fact that the crank sensor's connector is located on top of the engine and in plain view (next to the ignition control module). In the photo below, the orange arrow points to the location of the crankshaft position sensor connectors (photo applies to: 3.0L 1997-2004 Montero Sport).

Please tell me did you test crankshaft position sensor?
It is relatively easy to replace it. It is located on the right side of the engine on transmission bell housing below electronic ignition coil. Remove negative battery terminal, unplug the connector from sensor and remove it. Installation is in reverse of removal.

My Nissan Altima 1997 has a Engine Check light on. I brought it to an Autozone for diagnostic. The test result showed that the probable cause is a Crankshaft Sensor (CS). I want to replace it but I don't...

cs sensor is beside crankshaft pulley side of motor look for electrical plug. or could be inside crankshaft pulley, some are made that way, if so you'll have to pull harmonic balancer to get it out. hope i helped!!!

No spark got gas

If you have access to a scan tool you can check and see if the scan tool shows any RPM's while cranking this indicates whether the pcm is receiving a signal from the crankshaft sensor. The crank sensor is generally located on the rightside of the car lower engine by the cranskshaft pully/dampener.Before going this route would check the ignition module which is right by the coils underneath the coil cover many auto parts stores can test these for you.

Crank positioning censor

The camshaft position sensor is located on the timing cover on the front of the engine. The crankshaft position sensor is located just above the differential on the transaxle bell housing where it has to be to read from the flywheel the position of the crankshaft. It is easy to see from the front of the engine even though it is on the back half. Just look for the shifter cable and where its bracket ends (on the firewall side of the bracket) glance about 12" to the left and you should have no problem finding it. An 8 mm bolt is holding it in and with that bolt taken out it just pulls out of its hole. Google "95 caravan crankshaft position sensor" and then pick IMAGES so you can see an actual picture of what it looks like.
