The dashlight behind the fule gauge is burned

The dashlight behind the fule gauge is burned out. Is this a big job to replace? I have been lead to believe that there is a very expensive harness that needs to be replaced. I find this hard to believe that you would have to do this for just one light. Thank you.

Wow, im surprised some one even came up with somthing like that, ya it's somewhat of a big job but not on the harness, just a bulb.

1994 Escort: dashlights burned out how do you replace?...

Take the plastic off around the steering column and take the nuts off that hold the steering column in place, once you get the column dropped down you take all the screws out of the dash and then you can get to the lights, replace all of them because you don't want to do this again.

1996 VW Jetta 4.0 cyl Gauges are going out/Dashlights...

I have the same problem, I own a 1996 VW Jetta Trek Edition,
I suspect the dashboard instrument panel is going out,
or it is the wire harness.
Everytime I hit a bump on the road one of the gauges acts up.
So I am going to replace my whole dashboard instrument panel
and see what happens, if that doesn't work, then it must be the harness

On my audi the speedometer doesnt work and the dash light doesnt

Speedometer problem: This is well-documented on V8 and 200 models..Check here for info:
http://millerfactor.blogspot.com/2008/05/1991-audi-200-turbo-quattro-and.html

Dash lights: check the dimmer control knob first, then the bulbs..If not those, then it could be related to the problem above...

Driver's seat warmer; could be broken wires leading to the warmers inside the seat from, or the elements are simply burned out.

Blue smoke is oil related, not head gasket (which would be white)..Most V8's will exhibit a little blue smoke from time-to-time, but if it is excessive then it may be time for vailve seals or piston rings..depends on the mileage.

Temperature gauge is sticking

Do you mean physically sticking behind the dashboard?? If so, try removing the lead which is connected the temperature sender mounted on the cylinder head next to the thermostat and ground the wire. If the needle doesn`t stick, it`s probably the sender unit that`s faulty, If the needle still sticks, you need to remove the gauge and try to locate what it`s sticking on. It could be the glass or some foreign matter has fallen inside the gauge, in which case you could try inverting the meter upside down and blowing through it to remove the dirt or the worst scenario is the coils within the gauge have burned and are catching on the magnets inside the meter, If this is the case, you need to obtain a replacement. Burned out gauge lights in dash,2000 Doge Intrepid

From one female to another...taking the dash off is a big job. you have to pry off the entire frame first to get to where you want to go. Once you have everything off, the lights are easy. Just remember to place everything in order as you took it off, makes things easier to put back together.

Fule guge

HI, you will need to replace the sending unit that is located inside the tank. this unit is part of the fuel pump assembly and it sends the level of the fuel to the gauge, via wire transfer. there is a floater that is attached to the pump assembly, and it is damaged. replacing this sending unit will fix this issue.
