Question about 2003 Saab 9-3

1 Answer

My 2003 Saab 9-3 has very recently started to not want to produce cabin heat, the Automatic Climate Control (ACC) which my car is fitted with reads as though the fan is on and even on "hi" i can still select the fan setting i want but the fan doesn't come on. What could be the solution than fan worked fine before so im expecting a connection/ resistor problem? is there anything i can check before i bring it in? maybe its something blocking the fan? (just dont know how to get to the fan).

I had the same problem. Unfortunately, I had to replace the cabin fan assembly. This cost $375 it works great now. The mechanic said he could tap the fan and make it work, but when he turned the car off and then restarted it would not work. So he replaced the cabin fan assembly.

2003 Saab 9-5 2.3 leaks coolant (from engine cooling system-it's coolant/anitfreeze/water mix, not evap water, when ac on

Is it leaking inside the car? If so then it is more than likely the heater core is leaking antifreeze. You will need to replace the heater core under the dash.

Hello, I have a SAAB 9-3 2003. My issue is that the climate fan was spinning but the car was off. I removed the MAXI fuse related and the fan stops, but if I put the fuse back it starts again. Can I drive...

There is no reason why you can not drive to the dealer with the Maxi fuse IN, with it out you may lose some other functions. The problem is only when the car is off.

You fan sound like it neeed to be changed. On the ACC control press AUTO and OFF simultaneously. and record any codes shown/if any and go from there chances are your blend door mechanism needs to be repaired.

BLOWER NOT WORKING PROPERLY, STRUGGLES TO COME ON.

I would bet the cabin/pollen filter has not been changed for a long time. This can cause lots of issues including incipient blower motor failure. For illustrated tutorials on all things ACC related for Saab 9-5, including step by step replacement and repair procedures, see this site under A/C and climate control.

Look under the driver side of the lower inst panel for a small vent looking thing. Behind this is the "sniffer" for the cabin temp. This item is routinely omitted from being reinstalled properly. I'll bet that it is not attached to the lower panel
