What does the radiator coolant temperature gauge show when you have this condition? For example is the gauge sitting around the 8/10ths level or is it lower?

I have a vw polo 2002,when stuck in traffic or after long drive, the ar goes off

does the temp gauge reach the red area? check eng coolant .Over heating could cause eng to cut out so as not to cause more damage check the cooling system. When travelling slowly or at stand still turn heater to max heat and max speed this will cool eng but is only a temporary solution

VW POLO CLASSIC 2004 MODEL. HEAT GAUGE GOES IN THE CENTRE AND THEN SLOWLY DOWN BUT WILL NEVER EXCEED THE CENTRE(90). WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

90 is the correct temp for this engine,if it goes right down then consider the thermostat faulty.if it goes higher...... (dont even think about overheating)YET.

2002 VW Polo - EPC Light and Loss of Power

Hi,
It is a wiring fault, but they are looking on the wrong end. You will need to have a VW dealer "repin" the electrical connector at the throttle body. What this means is, the dealer will take apart the connector, cut off the old pins and crimp on new ones and reassemble the connector. This is a common problem on drive by wire VW's. The dealer has a bulletin on the problem and I don't know why they missed it. They will probably have to order the connector kit however. Good luck!

You may be just low on water. Check your water level and top off with antifreeze.

1992 VW Polo 1.3L Coupe: warning light mystery

Bought a very reputable diy service manual for the vehicle, and that plus a bit of thought and nous gave me the cure: no intrinsic problem other than loose relay connections. Went round with the wiring diagrams as guide checking all electrical connections in tight and relays fuses etc all good. Switched on and no problem any more.

By the way, vehicle is 1992 VW Polo - not Fox (which in UK is a variant of the Polo)

VW Polo Classic 1.6 Radiator fan not going on

Try moving the fan blades by hand to see if the fan spins freely to see if the problem is frozen bearings in the fan motor. Replace the fan motor if it doesn't turn. If it spins freely disconnect the wires and hook the fan directly to the battery using a jumper. If it runs the problem is most likely the thermostatic switch. If it doesn't the fan motor is bad.
