You're going to have to bleed the system alot on those trucks. Just remove the return line and have an assistant turn the steering wheel back and forth just enough to engage the pump and filling the resevour while doing this. Keep bleeding until you have a good flow of P/S fluid out with no air bubbles. This can take a while.

SOURCE: Change Fuel Pump on 1999 Chev Silverado v8 2 wd automatic 2 door

you stand a better chance of removing the bolts that hold the bed to the frame and taillight plug and 2 guys can lift bed back about a foot, you can get right at it with out removing the lines.i would not want to remove the tank unless the gas is drained out. also disturb gas tank strapes tank might start leaking. save yourself alot of time and trouble and remove the bed. whatever way you do it good luck. 99 silverado oil presure problem oil pump in front of engine

They may be right. Too much clearance on the bearings is where you lose oil pressure, or so I've heard. If you bought it used, someone may have once run old, dirty oil in it too long, or let it run low. You could drop the oil pan and check the bearings or replace them.

you need to check the oil sender unit at the rear of the engine if it does not close the ground to the fuel pump relay it may not start.aka either the sensor or no oil pressure

Is there a fuse for the fuel pump on a 1999 chevy silverado? i ran out of gas and now I cannot get it to start and I lost my manual.

there is a fuel pump relay under the hood under the black relay panel change that out sometimes they will burn out to save the pump from being fried.

OIL PUMP

This Depends on a 2 Details, ENGINE Size 4by4 or NOT. Most are Fairly Simple Once the Oil Pan has been Removed and the OIL PAN is Normaly the HARDEST Part of it

AFTER OIL PAN REMOVAL
  1. Remove the oil pump. Refer to Oil Pump, Pump Screen and Deflector Removal.
  2. A loose screen or pipe assembly can result in an air leak and loss of oil pressure. For more information, refer to Oil Pump Clean and Inspect.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
.
  1. Install the oil pump and the oil deflector. Do not reuse the oil pump drive shaft retainer (4). During assembly, install a NEW oil pump driveshaft retainer. Refer to Oil Pump, Pump Screen and Deflector Installation.
  2. Install the engine oil pan. Refer to Oil Pan Replacement

Changed oil pressure switch, still no oil pressure

The fuel pump on that model runs through the oil pressure switch so that if the truck looses oil pressure,It kills power to the fuel pump to prevent engine damage.you need to find the cause of the low oil pressure reading(possibly a bad oil switch). That would be the cheapest place to start,or have it checked with a mechanical gauge.Good luck,
