I have taken the door pannel off and found 2 screws that should hold the regulator and motor in place in the plastic behind the door pannel and the metal around the screw holes are torn and the 2 remaining screws have twisted fromt their original locations.

I have checked the switch and it has a positive feed on both sides of the switch when it is pushed in the down position and no feed on the up position, the switch is 2 position with a single position down and and an auto down? I have not tried putting a direct feed to the motor yet?

Thanks will try this and let you know, I've had the car from new not aware of any problems before. Typical it is now out of warranty seems a case of bad assembly

Hi most likely it has not failed with them miles on the car.

Take the inner door trim off and have a look around the motor ensure the plug is connected correctly to the motor, and that no wires are contacting the car body.

Also where the door opens and closes the door jam has wires running from the door to the inside of the car door look and check they have not been damaged.

Finally the electric window switch could be at fault pop it out and turn it over make sure all wires are correct and fitted right.

Someone has messed about with this before by the sounds of it!

Check the motor on a car battery and see if there is any movement. what kind of system is it using? cables! if so they sometimes get sucked into the motor when the alignment is out thus causing motor failure.

you will have to buy some after market nuts and blots to secure it correctly as the holes will be enlarged you may also need new washers.

test it and let me know.

My Suzuki swift drivers side window switch will only open the window but will not close it. Passenger side switch works normally. Will it be a loose wire in the door?

can be the switch or the motor or the wires.
use a voltmeter at the switch. to see if the switch works.
and then at motor, on most cars the motor reverses and has unique connection for that. and can fail in one direction for all 3 parts.
motor, switch or wires. guessing with no meter, is expensive.
$10 meter at walmart works wonders.
an there is no way anyone on the web can guess, 33.3% change.
i say, bad switch. just for fun, heck , how would i know.

2001 suzuki swift - thermostat replace?

Suzuki thermostats, more often than not, tend to fail OPEN when they have been overheated - which is a good thing! If they failed shut, you would really cook the motor. Change the thermostat. Also, find the cause of the initial lack of coolant.
