When do you change timing belt on 2001 TDI Jetta. We have every 60,000, but service now just told me it has always been 105,000. Also we have a 2006 TDI Jetta and that timing belt is every 80,000 correct?

My sincere apologies for the delayed response.
I am personally going back to answer your unanswered questions.

I do not know if you still need this information, however I am answering it either way.

The Serpentine Belt: visible on the outside of the Engine, should be replaced every 60,000 miles. The Timing Belt: not visible/inside the Engine, should be inspected/replaced every 100,000 miles.

Let me know if this helped, or if you have additional information or questions. Feel Free to contact me at FixYa.com!

Again my apologies...

Hello, you must astertain if it is not getting fuel .. or not getting electrical to the spark plugs. If it is getting fuel and the plugs are sparking.. then it could be worse like a cam timing belt..
FInd out what is missing and post a comment here and we will continue to look for the problem.

2006 JETTA- RECOMMEND TIMING BET REPLACEMENT

  • Hi, I can help.

  • The 2006 Jetta service manual says every 60,000 miles the belt should be replaced. Seems a bit on the short side to me but that is the manufacturer request non the less.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

My 2001 Jetta TDI has 155k on it. The timing belt was replaced at 78k. What kind of service is required at this type of mileage? Ive had no problems and still get great mileage.

full service means different thing to different mechanics ,like to a fleet fitter it means a good strip and inspect ,to a dealer fitter it means a nice bonus job where the pen is mightier than the doing the actual work .

2001 jetta tdi automatic transmission will not shift into high ge

My 2002 Jetta TDI will not always go into reverse. When this happens I put it in 1st then back to reverse and many times it goes right in reverse. It happens whether it is cold or warmed.
