SOURCE: 1999 Tercel. Timing belt/water pump interval change?

Hello tinaromano1: The factory specification are to replace the belt every 90,000 miles in severe service. I would recommend to replace at 90,000 no matter what the service would be. Keep in mind should the belt break there is always a chance engine damage may occur. Should you need further help just ask. Thank You for using FixYa. Roger

How many km can I travel with timing belt warning light on , and at what speed ? Toyota Raider , D4D , 3L , 2014 model

This light indicates the timing belt is due for replacement either by mileage or age through a computer monitor. The engine will continue to operate normally and you can travel at whatever spped you like. Witout knowing year/make/model..... The average timing belt replacement interval on most vehicles is 7 yr or 160,000 km. You can be asking for trouble on some makes/models if you go much past this recommended interval

How do I know when I need to get a new timing belt for my Mitsubishi Adventure 2005 model? Previously someone else owned this car so I am not sure if that person had the timing belt replaced already or...

timing belt replacement is dependant on mileage usually around 100000 km. A timing belt can break without warning and the result is an expensive engine rebuild. If in doubt replace it depending on mileage

Does our 2001 VW Cabrio have a timing belt and if so when would it need to be changed. And when do they normally require a tune up. Ours has 122,000 km. Thx.

I would usually give a tune up every 60-80 000 KM and yes your car does have a timing belt that usually last anywere from 150000-18000KM.........Hope this helps.

Is the timing belt replacement link with the number of Km (90000) only or also with the car life. In other word my A4 19 TDI is 2003 and has got 55000 km when shall i replace the timing belt?

Even your car Audi A4 1.9 TDI has got 55000 km and the timing belt replacement is due at 90000 km, the car was made in 2003. I strongly recommend you to change now the timing belt in order to prevent any risk!

When accerating as I'm going up a hill, I hear a rattling noise and whisteling. I've had the car for two months and it just started today. I have a 1996 Honda Accord LX, I bought the car used.

If the car is well past 90,000 miles (144,000 km) you may have a worn timing belt. Clattering sounds are a warning sound that the timing belt is not controlling piston and valve movement correctly. Carbon build-up may be contributing to your symptoms, but the timing belt needs replacing urgently if it has not been replaced already in the lifetime of the car. Timing belt breakage results in serious damage to the engine. Repairing the damage usually means an expensive engine overhaul or engine replacement.

When should I replace the timing belt on a 1999 gmc sonoma

Your vehicle has a timing chain, not a belt. There is no regular maintenance interval on the chain. If it starts to clatter at idle, it may be time to replace, otherwise, do not be concerned

My volvo has 150000 miles when is time to change timming belt

Timing belt
For proper functioning of the engine and its emission control systems, the timing belt and belt tensioner must be replaced every 105,000 miles (168,000 km) or at 120,000 miles (193,000 km) for the 2.5T engine on AWD models. Engine damage will occur if the belt fails.

The car hasnt died yet? thats lucky

"engine damage" is a euphemism for, the camshaft will stop as soon as the belt breaks, jamming at least one valve open, the valve head will smash through the piston crown on the next piston upstroke, and large fragments of hardened steel will rattle around in the engine chewing up everything they meet untill the engine seizes
time taken ~3 seconds.

probably a good time replace it, its due to fail now even if the 105K is a conservative fail safe number
