Question about 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada

2 Answers

My 1998 Bravada shudders and cuts off when slowing down to stop if driven past 40 mph or more but then starts right back up. Put new timing chain and fuel pump, didn't help. What else could it be?

TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) always locked: TCC apply solenoid circuit shorted to ground, TCC solenoid blockage (easy fix in pan), or TC broken (must remove trans and replace TC). Also check the Brake pedal switches improperly adjusted ( The Brake lights may no be coming on at times)
Start with the simple and inspect the Brake pedal switch by the Brake peddle arm for adjustments or damage wire leads and or faulty switch.
If that is good then it's going to be the TCC solenoid being faulty or a grounded out wire lead to the TCC and your going to have to take that to the Transmission shop. Easy fix so call around, but you really should get it fixed as soon as you can and try not do drive it much. This condition will damage your Torque converter clutch and that would cost you much more then a $150.00 fix with the transmission oil and filter service charge. Good luck and keep me posted.

2010 Jeep Wrangler unlimited sport extreme shudder at 40 mph- if I press the gas-pedal and get the RPMs to rev, the shudder ceases, only to return once I am back down around 38 mph-41mph.

which engine the 3.6? v6?
that shudder is called MISFIRE.
get a tune up yet, even $1.49 spark plugs?
no its not the trans,
if it dont slip, its not trans, (see RPM races? that is slip or too low gear)
if it shifting to the right gears, its not the trans can you count them?
is the CEL lamp glowing or flashing driving, is yes, that means
scan me now. in fact scanning while it shudders, is like (magic)
why start guessing, do a tuneup,
then scan it.
if its is misfire the PCM will tell you what cylinder misfires.

are your spark plugs 6 years old, if yes, why?
going for 200k miles on them.?

2003 Olds Bravada. Turn AC on and the truck begin to surge sometimes cutting off but starts right back up. The air is cold but the truck don't stay on when idling. When on the hwy there nis no problem...

Possibly an idle air control motor. The iac is on the throttle body. You my just need to clean it and the throttle body with carb cleaner . Good luck!

ABS brakes shudder

YOU NEED A SCANNER TO MONITOR THE WHEEL SPEED SENSORS. THE ABS IS SENSING A SKID AND THE ABS IS ACTIVATED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. THERE MAY BE A CODE FOR THE HUB THAT IS CAUSING THE ABS TO ACTIVATE.

CHECK THE WIRES FROM THE SENSORS FOR BREAKS OR CHAFFING. AN OHM READING OF THE SENSOR SHOULD BE 850-1200 OHMS, AND AND A-C VOLTAGE READING SHOULD BE 100 MV WITH YOU TURNING THE WHEEL BY HAND.
