Question about Volkswagen New Passat
Hey CaptainKeys.....you still around? I may have mis-lead you, sorry. The Passat oil leak I have is NOT at the front of the engine per say like near any pulleys ...rather the front of the CAR on the SIDE of the engine. Its leaking from a round unit next to the oil filter spin-on housing. I just dont know what that unit is called. It appears to spin off with a 1''hex fitting at the forward facing end. My cd manual wont be here for 5-7 days yet. I cant find ANY engine pictures online to identify components & I have hand surgery in 3 days and wont be able to fix the leak after that for 8-10 weeks min. Sure would like to get to it before then. Any other ideas?

SOURCE: 95 passat vr6 giving problems
Adjust or replace the shiftlock sensor. It unlocks the shifting mechanism when you put your foot on the brake.
If there is an ignition problem, the tumbler will need replacement soon. This can be caused by an overloaded keychain. Best to do it now while it still is working, then have it fail and leave you stranded.

I will suggest getting a Chilton manual. It is a book. You can find the manual on-line at www.autozone.com
I would still recommend getting your own copy, so you can write on it and get it greasy.
I have a 2001 VW passat V6 and do all my own work. Please, post your problems as clear as you can, I will do my best to help.
How does the car run otherwise?
The coolant, is it coming from the same place?
The oil leak, is it near a pulley?
