Hi!
Check the main cable going from the battery to starter rellay.
This could be loose or there is corrosion on the connectors, clean this with a spray like WD40...
To find this cable start from the starter motor and work your way back to rellay and then to battery...
If not.
Check with multimeter if the rellay is fine.
else the starter motor is jammed... it will have to be opened and serviced..

Regards
Berry

Starter solenoid is bad. It is on top of the starter and looks kind of like a mini version of the starter. If you can get get to it try tapping it with a hammer and see if it starts. If it does this, it's only a temporary fix, it will do it again. Last time I checked they were around 20$ or less.

Check your ignition switch by listening for an electric click when you turn the key on. If you hear the click the your starter & soleniod are bad.

Dead for starting like no battery

I believe Neutral start switch is in the transmission. Try to start with the shifter in Neutral instead of Park. Make sure the wires to the neutral switch are intact. Make sure the battery cables are good and measure the voltage at the starter solenoid.

Chevy tahoe 96 will not start. I have replace the electric fuel pump and that is working. Truck will not turn over.

Hello,

If the engine is not turning over, you most likely have a dead battery, or your starter is bad. If the battery is going dead, you will hear clicking sound and the lights will dim. If you have jumper cables hooked up between the Tahoe and a car that is already running and it still won't start, I would remove the starter and bring it to a place like Autozone or Advance Auto Parts, where they will test it for free.

I hope this helps you!

Do you know how to do automotive electrical testing ? Find a wiring diagram here at http://www.bbbind.com/free_tsb.html Enter vehicle info , year , make , model an engine size . Under system click on electrical distribution , then under subsystem click on power distribution . Click search button , the click the blue link .These two diagrams are of the main power feeds to the vehicle . With a volt meter test them all , or you find one with no B+ voltage.

Hi,

The possibilities are too numerous to get into here.

Either take your vehicle to AutoZone for a FREE diagnostic scan or they'll loan you a scanner. This will enable you to pinpoint the problem(s) almost immediately.

All the best,

96 chevy blazer, just clicks when trying to start, have checked all connections, clicking sound coming from distributor area. Had battery tested and starter checked, both ok.

The only thing you have not checked is a solenoid starter. This culprit is a small cylinder one on top of your starter in the attached images. If you don't want to replace the solenoid starter at 43 bucks, you can rebuild it with a repair kit at 1 buck. I have 2 images here for you reference. Good luck.e24a5ea.jpg 1bf93b8.jpg

sounds like the alternator went bad. and wasnt charging battery, when headlights demanded power there wasnt enough to supply light and motor , so it shut down, recharge battery check battery connections then have alternater check, good luck. hope this helps.
