Question about 1996 Volkswagen Jetta
Thanks for using FixYa. As the car is cranking but it won’t start the please check oil level. If low, refill and check the starter and starter solenoid. Tap it softly while trying to start your car if you get a sluggish crank then it’s a starter problem. To check the solenoid hook multimeter or test light up to your engine ground and starter solenoid trigger terminal. The test light should illuminate there should be a reading on multimeter. Please also check the battery terminals. It should read 12.6 volts which mean there is a solid connection and it’s not a battery problem. If giving low reading then check that there is no gunk build up at the terminals. If so, then please clean the gunk.
Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.
