Just a question, if the figure of 67K you quote is miles and not KM, you need to be doing the job right now IMHO.

Also you should bear in mind the age as well as the recorded distance and I usually replace cam belts at around 5/6 years irrespective of miles/km. Cam belts are cheaper than new engines!

Why grand vitara wont start? turns but does not fire

2.5L engine? v6.
you broke it , didnt you.
the 2.5L has no belt so its not 2.5L , 2.5L is CHAIN,(i own one same year)
must be a 4 cylinder engine??
and G16>
world wide GV have these engines
1.6 L G16B I4 (petrol)
2.0 L J20A I4 (petrol)
2.5 L H25A V6 (petrol)
2.0 L RF/RFM I4 (diesel)
2.0 L RHW/RHZ I4 (diesel)

only the 1.6BL gas has a belt.
lucky for you its not an INTERFERENCE engine or boom.
I also have A G16 suzuki and know how to time it.
the G16, must be cam timed at #4 cylinder firing, never #1
this is stated in the gates belt page, the FSM and alldata.com
and here.

after changing the belt , i always check that i have my 170psi
compression back (wideopen throttle) or its all just a waste of time.

its not the CKP unplugged, as this engine runs with out one.
fact.
here are all G16b steps.
and nice photos. and the false marks, that is correct, suzuki
gawd love em. uses the cogs on 2 engines. 3cyl and 4cyl.

all pitfalls are here. every one.

When do I need to change the tinming belt on my Suzuki Grand Vitara 2.0 l itre petrol. My car has done 54000 miles. What signs will tell me the timing belt is going

their are no signs taht you can see ,i normally say 80/90 th kms in a dry hot climate and 20,000kms more in a cooler damper climate .The belts tend to dry out quicker in a dry climate ,if you remove the covers and see cracking at the base of the teeth of the belt then is the time to start to think about changing it ,cracking on the outside is not a major problem as this can appear on a belt after a small amount of use as i have seen this after a couple of weeks of changing a belt myself

I want to change the timing belt on my suzuki so i need a timing belt diagram for suzuki grand vitara 2.5 petrol 1999

best bet go to mitchell or chilton on demand, otherwise buy a manual, any free diagrams will not be complete and you don't want to have to do it twice

Do i need lock tool to change cam belt on a 03 grand vitara

I'd be first confirming whether you have a 1.6 litre Grand Vitara (petrol), or a 2 litre turbo diesel. The 2 litre petrol (straight 4 or V6) or 2.5 litre petrol engines are all chain drive.
If your engine is petrol then no lock tool is required (to hold the camshaft). Of course, there is a specific position that an engine should be rotated too before removing the belt from ANY engine.
If it's diesel, then although I'm unfamilar with that particular engine, the general requirement for diesel engines with high pressure injection pumps is "yes, you require a lock tool" to hold the injection pump pulley. As I think these are a common rail set-up, this requirement may not be necessary. Check with your Suzuki Dealer, or maybe someone else here will know more. A similar question may have already been asked and answered here too.

Where is the thermostat housed in a gran vitara 2002 petrol

Inside the housing that the BOTTOM hose goes onto. I assume you have a 2L 4 cyl or 2.5L V6 petrol version. I don't know about the TDi (if available).
