what do you think it is **** ? it is not that it wants to stay home because its cold. on many occasions i have seen the same symptoms on very cold mornings--- oil viscosity changes dramatically with low temp.---or give us something better to work with than you cant select a gear on a cold frosty morning .

Transmission is sliping when warmed up, in all gears. Goes into all gears fine when cold.

Check transmission fluid level Hot in D. Over full will cause frothing and loss of pressure in the system. Have a transmission pressure test done . It may need a band and clutch pack adjustment.

2002 honda accord 5 speed.Drove it home parked .When I tried to go the next morning I could not shift to any gear If I turn off the engine I can shift ??

Any noises when you engage the clutch or shift? Could be several things. If it is hydraulic clutch, check the master cylinder level. It will be on the firewall just outside where pedals fasten to floor. Use dot 3 brake fluid to fill it if necessary. If it is full may have trouble with pressure plate and trowout bearing binding up.

Automotive repair on my manual transmission.

By what you are decribing you have a hydraulic clutch check for leaks from your master cylinder (one for your Clutch) and check for leaks at the Slave cylinder (in the bell Hopusing or on the side of the transmission). likley one or the other or the line that connects your master cylinder to your slave cylider may be leaking. Also check the fluid level normaly take Brake fluid DOT 3

Hard shifting 04 hyundai accent.

Check your clutch fluid level in the clutch master cylinder's reservoir. If low add brake fluid. If very low or dry, the clutch hydraulic system should be bled to remove air in the line. Bleeding is done down at the clutch slave cylinder on the transaxle.
I would not recommend using a lighter oil. It may cause early wear of the transmission.

I cannot engage the 1st and 2nd gear while i can hardly engage the 3rd, 4th & 5th gear. However I can easily engage the reverse gear and the fluid reservoir is empty.

Ok I see a manual transmission with a hydraulic clutch.
Get some fluid in that reservoir before you burn up the synchronizers.
Basically your clutch isnt disengaging because you are out of fluid. Next you need to find where the fluid is going. Likely the clutch slave cylinder is leaking and needs replaced. Pretty easy actually if you are handy with a wrench.

Could not engage gear at a stop light; some grinding~finally into gear~couldn't engage 1st or 2nd; could manipulate gear shift without the clutch engaged! Parked vehicle overnight~next...

Sounds like low fluid in the hydraulic clutch system, look under the hood next to the firewall on the drivers side should be a small resevior with a black top. Remove the top and check the level, if it gets even slightly low this problem will occur. it takes dot 3 or 4 brake fluid. If it is not low it could be that your slave cylinder is going bad. Also you may need to change out the fluid in your transmission, recomended at 60,000 mile intervals.

Transmission shifting into nuetral

Check your fluid level. If the fluid level gets low, the pump basically pumps the pan dry in which the trans. valve body has no fluid to direct to keep in engaged in gear. Check your fluid level while running at operating temp. in nuetral. If this checks out ok, the trans. clutches are worn out to the point of the trans. no longer has the ability to stay engaged.

Tdi clutch pedal pushed all the way down but hard to shift gears

Check your clutch fluid level, sometimes a seperate reservoir (drivers side on firewall), some clutch systems take fluid from the brake system (check brake fluid). If thats ok then the clutch slave may be failing.
If the clutch fluid is low refill it and check for leaks (or just wait till the symptom comes back). If it's happens often then theres a leak in the line or the slave somewhere.
