Question about Ford Focus
Hi Help Team, I have a 2001 2 litre ford focus estate with the Zetec engine. The cam belt tensioner recently failed causing all 8 exhaust valves to snap and all inlet valves to be bent. The head has been professionally rebuilt but I now get an intermittent clicking which the garage say is caused by wide clearances between valve bucket shims and cams. They've had it back once and redone all the clearances but the noise persists. They are baffled but quite prepared to sort it if the problem could be identified. I was wondering - could it be a hairline crack in one of the buckets that sometimes prevents the bucket from turning when its shim is pushed down by the cam?
Have they heard the noise or just you? Not hearing the click myself, it is quite possible that the exhaust manifold gasket has a small leak due to improper torqueing, crack, defect, or warp. I would sound mechanical but is actually air and would be intermittent at the early stages. Just to make sure, get a flash light and mirror and examine the exhaust manifold assemble looking for grey or black powder. It is a long shot but could be the issue, as could be a flat cam lobe, sticking valve from a bent or damaged guide, or other unforeseen abnormal conditions such a crack in a bucket.
You could try a super oil and see if it does not go away in a week. I have had them fix issues like this as well.

According to http://freespace.virgin.net/tommy.sandham/databook.htm# Rocker Adjustment, the cold clearance is .008" intake/.018" exhaust in the non-GT 1500cc, and .012" intake/.022 exhaust on the GT. Sweet little car!!!

right remove rocker cover and run to see if you have oil feed to the cam ,sorry about delay but ice road truckers was on and coming up next is new season CSI ,have a gut feeling that the oil feed where it comes through the oil gallery is partially blocked with congelled muck ,reducing the oil flow ,
