Hi you may need to turn the position of the pump to another angle, some cars are very awkward to fill up, my current car is the same I have to hold the fuel pump on its side to get the fuel in.

Hope this helps

PO441 code comes on- Evap purge control valve. also, when filling the gas tank, the nozzle on the gas pump keeps shutting off before tank is full.

Try not putting fuel nozzle in so far. Fuel flow cuts off on back pressure of the air being displaced by the fuel when filling. Can be a problem with narrow neck tanks and some fuel fillers are more sensitive than others.

Gas tank will not fill up on 2001 ford expedition

Gas as in gasoline or gas as in LPG gas? If its petrol, the fuel sender may be out of adjustment. (Usually means a new sender) If its LPG, the fuel stations are set to automatically shut off at 80% full. The gas tank will never actually be full to the brim but the gauge should be showing full if the gas nozzle keeps shutting off. Have a look on the LPG tank itself, they have a little gauge on them which shows how full it is. I have 2 tanks on my car , when "full" or when the pump shuts down, the tank gauges show just under full but the gauge on the cars dash shows full (2005 BA Ford)

2002 Honda CR-V stalls, mostly when the gas tank gets low (aka light on) but not only then. Engine will not stay on unless its constantly gassed, when I come to lights, I put it in neutral and gas it

water in fuel. put some water remover or gas line antifreeze in and keep tank full. the reason its worse after sitting is because the water sinks to bottom of tank and then the car is trying to run on just water. after driving it mixes with fuel

With my 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van, I have trouble fueling the vehicle. The nozzle keeps shutting off as if the gas tank is full. What do I need to do?

Usually a sign of a blockage in the vent pipe inside the filler tube, or the vent for the gas tank. Air pressure inside the tank has to be equalized as the fuel is added.

When putting gas in my car (2004 pontiac grand prix, 3.8) the gas pump keeps shutting off like my car is full when its not. Any suggestion to what that means?

This is not a bad thing. You have a very tight emissions system. You know your car at this point better than anyone else. You can try this, don't put the gas nozzle very tight into the gas filler. Put the nozzle into your tank and just pull it out a fraction of an inch. This will give the fuel tank the ability to BREATH while your filling the tank .This should solve your problem. GOOD LUCK.

Every time i try to but gas into my car the pump keeps shutting off eveyr to seconds.I ws wondering y this happens

The pump is shutting off because of back pressure. There are usually two lines going to the fuel pipe. The big pipe that the gas goes down and a smaller vent pipe that the air that is being displaced in the tank comes up. If this is blocked or is not working correctly , enough pressure can build up to shut off the nozzle of the gas pump. The gas nozzle thinks your tank is full.

Not starting ran out of gas, added gas and still not starting, can hear fuel pump running, smell gas at engine and exhaust.

Gas line filter may be dirty and clogged. Change it. There could be sediment or dirt in the tank that you drew up to the filter when you ran out of gas and it has built up and is blocking gas from getting into the engine.

We have an "04 Suzuki Verona that does the same thing, we have found that it is not the station as much as it is the angle that the tank inlet is on. When you put the gas nozzle in, it fills with some air to replace the gas comming out of the nozzle. Unless you find a place that has a higher pressure pump, you are in a long and "Clicking Off" ownership when it time to pump gas. For the record, I have noticed that if I chose the lowest setting on the handle, the pump will ussually fill about $10 at a time. two or three of those, and its a done deal. Hope this helps you.

When i go to put gas in my car it takes the gas and then clicks off the pump like its full so i have to wait like 30 seconds and put more in and keep doing these steps till its full...why does my tank not...

hi from uk are you putting the fuel pump gun/nozzle fully into tank filler? as there is a flap valve inside the tank filler neck and unless nozzle pushes this flap open it will restrict flow of fuel into tank one other cause of problem slow filling? is the ventilation pipe from the tank which is positiond along side of fill pipe ? may be kinked or blocked at outlet look under car where filler is and check? as fuel enters tank it displaces air from tank via this vent pipe? hope this helps you solve problem

Gas Tank Blockage

i had the exact same problem, turns out, there is a 2 lines going from the gas tank to where you put your gas in, one is for the gas to go in and one is for air to get out. on mine, there was a sliver seal from a bottle of heat that i had poured in during the winter. the seal was the exact size of the return air line and blocked it from air coming out. this forced the air to come out the gas part and splashed around a lot causing the pump to shut off, i bet there is a blockage in the line that goes from your nozzle to your tank. it is easy to take off, but it is very dirty
