The temp control on your dash operates a hot water valve under hood, it's probably vacuum aparated, like the doors in the heater housing, the valve may be close to heater core, check for vacuum leaks around dash control, totally unrelated leaks can cause problems, and yes a blocked heater core can definitly cause the problem, but I would save that unless it's easy to get at, eliminate other stuff first, luck

Pressure in the header tank with cool water is a classic sign of head gasket blowing between cylinder and water jacket. Not bad enough to blow water into the oil yet.

Are the hoses hot to the touch?
If not, then check your cooling system for either air-pockets or blockages.
If the main radiator is also not hot when running and if the temperature gauge is reading high, then change your thermostat.

If, as you say both hoses are the same temp and hot to the touch, then is the interior blower motor turning?
Have you checked the condition of any interior cabin air filter?
Also check that the heater matrix core hasn't been clocked up with dirty/fir/fluff etc.

It sounds like the system is fried. Based on the description, it is just pulling in the outside air and not doing anything to heat or cool the flow. Unfortunately, this is a job for your preferred mechanic.

replace any soft hoses.
collapsed hoses cause water flow constriction
.that increases temp fast

Sounds like it's the air control flap which determines the mix of heated and fresh air. This could be vacuum controlled or manually with a cable.

Have a 96 f250 deisel and the heater is aonl putting out warm air. Replaced the thermostat, both heater hoses are fairly hot. I think it may the the air mixture door. How do i check this.

Seems to be that your heater core has some restrictions in it. If your heater is not getting hot. You may need to replace the heater core. The mixture door can be checked by the sound it makes when you turn the controller from cold to hot . you will hear a clump sound.Good Luck!!!

No heat from my heater. Fluid levels are good, motor seems slow to heat ( at least on the guage)

Everyone jumps to the thermostat because its a good place to start. If, when the engine is truly at op temp, the upper and lower radiator hoses are both hot, its not the thermostat. If you have the temp control to hot and both heater core hoses are hot, its not the valve or control. Check the blend door actuator (behind the glove box), and then the blend door itself as it may be broken (its plastic) and not closing off the cold air.

My heater does not throw hot air, changed the thermostat, any other suggestions?

Hi, this might help you:

this might sound dumb, but did you check all the fuses and the wiring to them, and also all the wiring related to the heatring part of the air system?

I hope this is useful, and greets.

1994 nissan pickup--heater not blowing hot enough air

your fan motor is shot, motor has bad brushes replace it, if u feel its still not hot, drain your rad and but a 28 oz bottle of pine sole and add water till full, run it for about 20 mins. drain, run strait water, drain, then put anti frezz in with water, 50/50 mix or mix your own. it should clean your cooling system compleatly out.. do not turn heat on while pine sole is running throw it, gives of a bad smell.
