Question about 1996 Pontiac Sunfire

4 Answers

Okay, if the horn might be bad, where exactly is that located? I know that's probably a dumb question, but my Chilton manual doesn't show anything for the horn or how to go about replacing it. I can't really afford to take it to a mechanic, but if it's possible to DIY, any info you could give me as where to look would be most helpful. 96 Sunfire (2.4L)

First off, not a dumb question. Engineers spend all kinds of time trying locate items out of sight so Joe Average can't work on his car. Most times is is near the headlights, underneath or behind the front bumper. You may need to remove a splash guard to gain access to it.

This person had the same problem on yahoo. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071003060146AAXN5NM
I would also check your fuse and horn relay and check for loose connections. when you locate the horn if you have a volt meter you should be able to have someone press the horn while you measure the voltage across the horn if you aren't getting voltage there is another problem. if you get voltage the horn is more than likely bad.

Pop the hood pen, look at the fender inside the engine compartment. I don't remember if it is on the right or left but it is not as big as its bark should be. Look for a black plastic device about half the size of a McMuffin. It will have 1 wire leading to it (thats power) it uses ground as a negative, But the Saturn's are pretty much plastic so ensure the horn has a good ground. God's speed and parp your way to getting people to move! ( Parp Parp is Englands version of Beep Beep )
