The P1860 error code has a few things you will need to look at to correct it. First, the TCC solenoid control circuit is open or shorted to ground. Second, the TCC solenoid control circuit is shorted to system power. Third, the TCC solenoid power circuit is open, check the transmission fuse. Forth, the tcc solenoid is damaged or has failed. Fifth, the PCM (vehicles computer) has failed.

I have a 2001 aurora and code p1860 p1860 came up what is this and how much to fix

P1860 All GM - TCC (transmission Torque Converter Clutch) PWM Solenoid Circuit Electrical.
P1860 Description The Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation (TCC PWM) solenoid valve controls the fluid acting on the converter clutch valve. The converter clutch valve controls the TCC application and release. The solenoid attaches to the control valve body within the transmission. The solenoid receives ignition voltage through circuit 239. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls the solenoid by providing a ground path on circuit 418. Current flows through the solenoid coil according to the duty cycle (percentage of ON and OFF time). The TCC PWM solenoid valve provides a smooth engagement of the torque converter clutch by operating during a duty cycle percent of ON time.
When is the code detected? When the PCM detects a continuous open, short to ground or short to power in the TCC PWM solenoid valve circuit, then DTC P1860 sets. DTC P1860 is a type B DTC.

Possible causes - Faulty Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation (TCC PWM) Solenoid
- Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation (TCC PWM) Solenoid harness is open or shorted
- Torque Converter Clutch Pulse Width Modulation (TCC PWM) Solenoid circuit poor electrical connection. Unless you have a factory manual and very good auto repair skills this is best left to an expert. It is a messy dirty job that requires removing the parts inside the transmission for testing..

2001 Chevy S10 4x4 4L60E transmission works perfectly until 50MPH then I lose 3rd and 4th gear, 1st, 2nd and reverse are normal. Never happenend before, been parked since. Fluid is clean. Any ideas?

Are there any DTC's - diagnostic trouble codes ?in the PCM / BCM ? You have third an fourth below 50 mph but above 50 it down shifts to 2nd gear ,is this what your saying or you don't have 3rd or 4th gears at all ? Which engine did yours come with ? 2.2 L or 4.3 L You trans can set several DTC'S an not all will turn on the check engine light .

How do I clear the code1860 on my Chevy venture 3.4 so it will pass smog

Replace the TCC solenoid in the transmission !
Ignition voltage is provided to the torque converter clutch pulse width modulation (TCC PWM) solenoid valve. The PCM controls the solenoid with a negative duty cycle in order to control application and release of the TCC. When the solenoid is commanded OFF, the PCM senses high voltage. When the solenoid is commanded ON, the PCM senses low voltage.
DTC P1860 sets if the PCM detects a voltage that is outside of the calibration limits. DTC P1860 is a type B DTC .
Do you know what the TCC is ?

I have a 2001 caddy deville that i am buying there is a code that comes up P1860 can you tell me what that is Thank you Paul

Circuit Description with 4T80-E Automatic Transaxle
Ignition voltage is provided to the torque converter clutch pulse width modulated (TCC PWM) solenoid valve. The PCM controls the ON and OFF time of the solenoid by providing a ground through the output driver module (ODM) . The PCM uses a PWM duty cycle, in order to control application and release of the TCC. When the solenoid is commanded OFF, the PCM senses high volts. When the solenoid is commanded ON, the PCM senses low volts. If the PCM detects a continuous open, short to ground or short to voltage in the TCC PWM solenoid valve circuit, then DTC P1860 sets. DTC P1860 is a type B DTC.

Conditions for Running the DTC
  • The system voltage is 8-18 volts
  • The engine run time is greater than 5 seconds.
  • The TCC PWM solenoid valve duty cycle is 10% or less or 90% or greater.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
The TCC PWM solenoid valve feedback circuit indicates a continuous open, short to ground or short to voltage for 4.3 seconds.

Engine sputtering/missing when accelerating, 97, 3.8 Camaro. This has been happening after a cold start and when gear is shifting into 2nd. At light the battery power drops and will surge. I have had a new...

Start with replacing the alternator once you have it checked to make sure it's in 100% working order.
Your voltage could be dropping causing your electric fuel pump to weaken from the low voltage. The low voltage will cause your fuel pump to drop in fuel pressure that may be the cause of your sputtering and misfire.
Start with that and also replace your fuel filter, Auto Zone or Parts source will scan your car free of charge for DTC codes. If there are any DTC code, then have of your work is done as the DTC codes will help you address the issues your engine is having to get it running 100% again soon without the guess work.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck
