95 jimmy with 4.3 v-6 running too rich. I put it on the scanner and the code advised that it was running too rich. what could this be? When the car is idleling it is very irregular and it also backfires...

If you have the fuel pressure regulator and spider setup ,on your vehicle, that is a common problem, after a few years of service. To get to that ,you need to remove the intake manifold. There are pics and info on web, about the system,as well as blogs. May be other issues, but the leaking spider check valves, elude people, because you don't see it or expect it to be hidden

My car has eratic idle and acceleration jerking. It is a 2005 landrover freelander with 52,000 miles. Automatic transmission with a 2.5L engine.

It could be a few things. The EGR, IAC, TP sensor, vacuum leak, MAF sensor, air filter, bad ground to engine. Is the engine light on? If so were any codes retreived from it? What have you done or looked at so far?
