Is this vehicle gas or diesel and what year?

Posted on Feb 01, 2010

Testimonial: "very good i will chek these items any suggestions on why it would lose battery power over night when every thing is shutoff?"

  • Crhen Feb 02, 2010

First of all, check all the fuses in the power dist. center, including the MAXI fuses. If all fuses are good. Check to make sure the oil level is good (vehicle has a failsafe) if oil level is too low. Chec to see if you are getting smoke frome the tailpipe while cranking> Smoke would be an indication that you are getting fuel. Fuel pump is nounted on frame rail, check to see if it is running when ignition is turned on. All the above verified. I would replace the crank sensor first, located in front cover of the engine, Will have a wiring harness connected to it. Unplug the wiring harness, remove the screw from the retainer, remove it. May be a little hard to remove, replace in reverse order> This sensor should be available at your local dealer I would guess about 25.00 dollars. If this doesen't solve your problem I would suggest you have it checked out by a qualified Ford diesel mechanic. This a fairly complicated system. Hope I was able to help. Good luck

Additional comment: said "CRANK SENSOR" on your vehicle it is called a "CAM SENSOR" sorry

Check the fuel pump is working

Hello mate, it would seem that as much as you have said everything is switched off, there must be a power drain somewhere, or an electrical short of some kind, and as crhen has advised this is a complicated system.

So i suggest going over the electrical accessories that draw current to double check they all switch off, sorry i cant be more helpful, Colin.

Is this a diesel engine ? Sounds like a possible wiring issue in the fuel delivery system that may be causing the battery drain and fuel pressure loss leading to power loss .

Holden Rodeo 2001, check engine light keeps coming on!?

I'm having same problem on my 2000 model rodeo 4wd 3.2L V6. Other day check engine light came on. I checked engine bay nothing abnormal, or power loss. Next day light was gone. 2 days later driving, a sudden loss of power and light came up. After idling for a couple of minutes, drove off with light still on but all power back. 1 hour later of faultless driving loss of power for a minute or so. Engine temp normal. Had break for 1/2 hour and set off for last hour of journey without fault except check engine light still on. Following dayon startup light went out???

2002 Honda CRV Battery keeps dieing over night

first you need to make 100% sure it isnt the battery .when you park it for the night take your battery cables off and leave them off until the next day.when you go to start it put them back on and if it starts up then its probably not a battery issue.(some batteries get weak and will not hold a charge overnight). if it starts then its probably a short in your wireing.also when you put the cables back on listen for a crackling poping sounds as you putting the cables back on the battery.a good indicator thats there a short in your system.i hope this helps thanks jeff
