The shifter light is not working what do i need to take apart to replace it?

Just remove the mechanism (solenoid) that locks the shifter in the console. Its not cost effective to repair.

You may have a bad switch (Ford calls it a brake shift interlock not sure the exact term Honda uses) but check all your fuses. Below I gave you a picture and instructions on how to bypass the interlock switch until you can get the repair done or replace the bad fuse. I hope this helps and good luck.

no, most likely cause is a 194 series bulb, that is under the "shifter indicator". that is what that piece is called. very small bulb that is just under the indicator is burned out. you need to somewhat take the indicator apart to replace. not for a novice or omeone that doesnt work on cars.

On these models if the lights won't work you won't be able to shift out of park because its all incorporated into the safety device for you locking mechanism in the shifter console. Take apart each light clean every contact and apply electrical gel to each one then try it.

Happened to me, and I got stuck in a parking lot. In my case, I had to take apart the entire console to physically look at the shifter... there is a solenoid that should engage when you press the button on the shifter in order to shift out of park. For some reason, mine was rusted and would not move. I simply took it apart, cleaned it, sprayed it with lubricating & penetrating oil, and worked it by hand until it moved freely.
Solved the problem for good - it's now been 3 years since then. I also found that it may have been triggered by someone spilling a drink around the shifter from those terrible cup holders. That and I also found a very slow leak coming from the sunroof drainage hose that would leak from the overhead lights straight down to the shifter.... thanks Pontiac!
I hope this works for you... when I spoke with a dealer, it was supposedly upwards of a $600 repair to replace that entire assembly/solenoid.

did you check the brake light switch, Some vehicles will not let you shift if it does not work

I have the same car and problem..if you take apart the cup holder, and the silver plates around the shifter, you'll see bright pink parts. There is pink on the left side and the right side, its probably the right side pink part that broke. If you push that pink part towards the cup holders you can move it out of park. That piece broke and will need to be replaced.

The electronic shift lock out comes apart inside the shifter mechanism. Most likely you will need to replace the shifter assy. It's a common MB problem.

Allen wrench to remove the T handle.

Move rug from underneath shifter console to acces retraining bolts to unit. You are on your own after removing it. Reverse process to install back. Replace the T handle. Make sure release button is engaged. Oh, fix the light after parts are remove of course!!!!!!
