I'm sure they are just stuck on there real tight. They get weathered under the car, and rusty. I don't think you would get them confused with the other parts. The best bolt breaker I have ever used is PB BREAKER . This can will make every bolt easier to get off like no other solution out there. Give it at least 1 hour. If it is still stuck, spray again and wait. It will work. Also, alternate between a breaker bar, and an impact wrench if you have them. Don't stress the wrench so it breaks or strip the bolt, it will loosen with repetition. I have not had 1 bolt stuck since I discovered PB BREAKER.
Good Luck!

you can heat them with a torch-be carefull of what is above them-if you don't have a gas torch,a small plumbing torch would work or even one of the newer mini-torches. also try working it forward and reverse, and use wd-40 -hope they come loose for you-cheers denny

I need to know where the starter is located on a 1999 Mercury Sable. I'm told I can "bang" on it with a hammer to get it to start long enough to drive it to a mechanic. New battery last...

The starter location is as follows:--- The starter is an electrical motor that provides a jolt of energy to ignite sparks needed to crank an engine.
  • First unplug the negative cable of your car battery for safety reasons.
  • Then remove the 10 bolts underneath the front of the vehicle to remove the splash guard. There are five bolts in the front, three in the center and two on each side.
  • Remove the electrical connectors attached to the starter motor. They are connected by tabs and can be easily removed with your hands.
  • You can use the socket wrench to remove the bolts to loosen starter motor. The starter motor will slip right off as the screws are removed.
This will help.Thanks.Helpmech.

Barring any vacuum leaks, P0401 is indicative of a bad EGR valve. Hope this answers your question. Best of luck.

I need to change my starter on a 1991 mercury sable

Starter are one of the easier mechanical engine parts to change.

1) DISCONNECT THE BATTERY.
2) Disconnect the electrical cable running to the solenoid on the starter.
3) Remove the two bolts holding the starter in place.
4) Pull the starter out.

To install another starter, do the above steps in reverse order in reverse.
