Check engine light has to be off for cruise to work thats how they made the car i dont like that but thats how it is

You might try removing the battery connectors for five minutes and replacing back.
If the codes do not disappear, please you might have to get a scanner to do that.

SOURCE: cruise control light failure
Your light bulb is burned out. You will have to take the dash apart to get to it. You can check to see if it come on by taking your key from off to the run postion, all the lights should come on for a second or two and then go off with the exception of a few. If it does not come on then, your bulb is blown.
