It might have a feature known as auto stickwhere you can control the up and downshifts by moving the shifter they usually wont shift through the gears at a stand still as you have to start in first but form there yopu should be able to control when 2nd 3rd and 4th kick like a manual with no clutch hope this helps

Plus minus gear shiftjeep

I is used for the automanual mode. You move the shifter over an tap it up or down to change gears. I personally never used it. Guess it could help in snow. but my commander has never had trouble in the snow

Having a hard time putting my car in gear. It has to warmm up in order to engage the button on the shifter to put the car in gear.

The shifter knob that houses the button may be worn out or the shifter mechanism may need to be lubricated. You can try spraying a little WD-40 around the shift button and into the shift knob using the straw provided with the spray can.
To lubricate the shifter, the shift knob will have to be removed and the shift plate removed to gain access to the shifter mechanism.
Good luck.

On a Chevy malibu ltz, what is the button on the left side of the shifter that say + and - for?

these buttons are for you to change gears manually. should be able to slide shifter over into a slot and shift gears up/down by moving shift arm.

What does the plus/minus button on the chevy malibu shifter do?

Hi there,
I suppose its a sports mode function where the + enables you to upshift and the - to downshift.
Try using this mode when you are driving as you might like it if you used to drive manual cars before...

What do the settings S-D and plus minus on trasmission shifter m

The plus and the minus allows you to "manually" shift the automatic transmission; sort of like a manual transmission, without a clutch......minus = downshift, + = upshift.
Just put it in "D" and drive on.
