Question about 2006 Hummer H2
Remove the two plastic shrouds that covers the steering column . under the ignition shaft their is a cylinder shape object a little smaller that a roll of pennies. I think its chrome with white plastic ends on it. At the end of this device, their is a Brass tip, push that piece in & your key should come out....// I did not replace this item, because of the price, instead I drilled a finger size hole through the plastic shroud.

Hi is the steering straight when you parked the car?
you may have to turn the steering all the way to the way they are facing and hold it there while jiggling the key. if you wheels are not straight when you parked then it sometimes will not let you remove the key.
It's quite common on this these cars.
Hope this helps
