The power distribution box for the E-38 is in the engine compartment.
and for the E-39 and E-53 is inside the vehicle inside the glove box above the hing panel and one in the cargo area under the flooring on the left side

On a 2004 BMW X5 4.4L Eng, The Fuse # 26 blows when ever I start the car. But if I turn Key on with the eng off. it does not blow. Any Ideas? The Fuse 26 & 32 are for the front power seat

Fuse 32 is for heating for seat 26 adjustment driver seat they are both related they go in the motor seat adjustment, you may have a rub thru wire as it reaches a certain position then it blows

Driver power seat adjustment and steering tilt not

It would appear that the relay is misfunctioning. Try swapping one from nearby and when your car won't start but your seats operate then you'll know what to do. THanks, Dana

Drivers seat/steering wheel not working

THERE ARE TWO FUSE PANELS ON MOST CARS..ONE IN THE PASS COMPARTMENT AND ONE IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.

ALSO, SOME THINGS RUN ON NOT ONLY FUSES, BUT RELAYS AND CIRCUIT BREAKERS AS WELL.

IN ADDITION, SWITCHES CAN GO, AND IN RELATION TO A POWER SEAT, OFTEN THE WIRING GETS EXPOSED TO WATER, DIRT AND SAND ETC.

GOOD LUCK.

I have a 1997 bmw 540 i the driver seat wont move nor the stearing column does anyone know the problem to this or which fuse will fix the problem

Sounds like the fuse has blown. On these 5 series a single fuse controls both the steering colomn adjustment as well as the drivers seat adjustment.

In your glove box, either behind a panel or a drop down fuse fascia is fitted. The fuse your after is a 30a fuse in position 13. Normally a sheet with a labelled diagram will show you where fuse 13 is located. (Or just simply from left to right count 13 spaces!)

Hope this helps!

2001 bmw 525i .power seats and steerind column adjustments wont work.tested power suply and its like 5watts.checked fuse..its good but only bout 5 amps there too

check the connection that goes to the driver seat disconect it and put it back in. once there is a lack of connection on your seat harness the stearing adjustment do not work or the seat move. you can contact me at amigotnt@yahoo.com if you have any further questions
